Tasers and Poker

Several months ago I was asked to participate in a charity event for the Taser Foundation, which is a charity poker tournament to benefit the families of fallen law enforcement officers. The event takes place the weekend of November 19th at the Fort McDowell Resort, which is about 15 miles East of Scottsdale, Arizona. Here is a link to the details, and I apologize in advance that it starts off with a Phil Hellmuth video: http://www.taserfoundation.org/sites/holdemforheroes/Pages/default.aspx

If you can make it to the event it should be a lot of fun and it’s for a great cause. I hope to see you there. The Borgata Open is down to 27 players, and unfortunately I am not one of them. Steve Brecher is still in, as is “Super Tuan." I wouldn’t be surprised to see one of them take it down.

You won’t find me at a poker table over the next three weeks; I am getting married October 3rd, then a week away relaxing. The Bellagio is trying a new idea for the upcoming 15k main event, they are having only one start day, but you can register the second day and start with the same 45k in chips. What I thought would make it more interesting is to let those who bust day #1, re-buy and start again on day #2. It would definitely make the prize pool larger, and those who re-bought or started late would start with a relative short stack, but against a smaller field.

I may play some of the Foxwoods preliminaries, but will be in Toronto for the Canadian poker expo the first weekend in November, so no main event for me.
