Canadian Poker Expo, Low Stakes Onlineby Roy Winston | Published: Oct 17, '09 |
While I was in Jamaica I played a little online poker at Full Tilt. My connection was extremely mediocre, so I played a lot of small satellites and tournaments. I got a fair amount of grief from some players and railbirds about playing the small stakes. To be honest, I enjoyed it. I like playing and enjoy competition so it was all good, and when I had a disconnect, it wasn’t as upsetting, although the poor internet service still drove me a little crazy. I played several $1 and $2 dollar events with 800-10,000 players and had a blast. I came close to a final table in one but got unlucky towards the end, losing AK to A5 all-in pre-flop. I got berated by a player in a $0.50 re-buy event when I pushed 12 big blinds from the big blind with A 4 suited, after he raised 3 bb’s from the cut-off with KK. Of course I hit the ace, and did feel a little bad, but hey, it’s poker, that’s the way it goes. I would like to take a full month and not play any events over a $24 buy in and see how it goes. I thought about making it $5, and will probably do it after the upcoming FTOP’s, which begins in early November.
I may head over to Foxwoods and play some of the upcoming live events that are coming up this month. Then off to Toronto for the Canadian Poker Expo the first weekend in November. If you are in the area, come by and check it out. It’s being held at the Toronto Congress centre and should be interesting. Full Tilt is having a big display, which will include the ability to play live against a pro, here is the info: http://www.canadianpokerexpo.com/About
