Celebrity poker players Chris Ferguson, Rafe Furst, Phil Gordon, Annie Duke, Andy Bloch and Lawrence Bender have joined with the X Prize Foundation to throw an elite ‘casino night’ fundraiser at a private mansion in Pacific Palisades on April 24. This exclusive evening invites guests to go ‘all in’ with the upper echelon of entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, celebrities and poker champions, all while donating to the Foundation – the globally recognized leader in supporting radical breakthroughs for the benefit of humanity through multi-million dollar incentive competitions.

The X Prize foundation was founded in 1996 to create and manage incentives that challenge innovators to solve problems that we face today. The X prize is a $10 million-plus award given to the first team to achieve a goal such as to sequence 100 human genomes in 10 days for under $10k per genome, which would be a huge step in personalized medicine. The foundation also has an X Prize for developing clean, production-capable vehicles. Their future X prizes include challenges in energy and environment, exploration, education and global development, and life sciences.

Winners of the top prize of the night can choose from:

• A suborbital flight with Virgin Galactic ($200,000 value). The winner of this prize will have the chance to experience complete weightlessness onboard SpaceShipTwo, set to launch later this year.

• The new 2010 Tesla Roadster ($109,000 value). The electric sports car goes from 0-60 in under four seconds.

With a huge field of some of the world’s best players, Julian Hart, who has been a long time close friend, golf partner and engaged to one of the worlds best cover girl/Actress April Scott (who’s a solid poker player herself) takes down the 1st prize. I thought he should take the space flight, but he opted for the Tesla Roadster. I am sure you will see the Tesla parked outside the Commerce Casino in LA on a regular basis, as Julian is a well known high stakes cash player.

His better half, April Scott, http://aprilscott.com/ will most likely be the Hostess for the upcoming Cyprus Classic in August, an event I will have more information on shortly.
