Poker Shades & Where To Get Them

I am not really sure why the issue of sunglasses is such a hot button, and yes I do understand that sunglasses could potentially aid someone trying to cheat, but there are so many ways to cheat that perhaps the game needs to be played naked in a bubble with electronic jammers in use.

Here is what I think wearing glasses that conceal your eyes actually do for you. Principally there are two advantages, one is the ability to watch your opponents without them knowing they are being watched and secondly it conceals your pupil/eye reaction and makes one harder to “read.”

For some players these can be huge factors, for others it makes absolutely no difference. Some players wear hooded sweatshirts and when in a big hand cover their face and put their heads down, should we ban hoods and hats? What about those players who talk nonstop in a hand, perhaps they should be muzzled?

So at the risk of some negative comments, I am going to do my best to help further the use of sunglasses in poker. While in Toronto at a poker expo a few months ago there was a poker specific glasses company, Blue Shark Optics. They have a wide range of glasses which can be custom made with your prescription, which to me is a great option. They are designed for indoor use while playing poker. They actually make it seem brighter and conceal your eyes.

For those of you interested in checking out the Blue Shark glasses for poker, here is the link. As an added bonus the company has agreed to take 10% off the price if you use coupon Oracle2010 at their online store here’s the link: http://bluesharkoptics.com/ I think you’ll find it interesting all the great players that use them.
