If you watched the debate in Vegas, it is becoming more and more apparent we are going to have a woman president. Hillary Clinton kicked butt in this televised debate. She is listed a 1-3 odds to be our next president. I am not sure exactly what her stance is on online gaming but most reports have her as favorable. I bet Phil Helmuth and Mike Matusow $10,000 each that if nominated, Hillary will win the presidency. The good thing about her getting elected is that her husband, Bill Clinton, will be her main advisor. I believe if it hadn't been for 'zippergate' Bill Clinton would have gone down in history as one of our greatest presidents.
Speaking of presidential candidates, how about Ron Paul? At the hearing in Washington about internet gambling, Ron Paul defended the rights of American citizens to bet on the web. The long time republican Texas congressman is the only candidate to have voted against the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act last year. Congressman Paul is making a strong bid to be a viable candidate. He also wants to abolish federal income tax and calls for an end to foreign aid, claiming it aids terrorism. As a lifelong republican, I was convinced I would vote for the democrats this year but Ron Paul just might change my mind.
We need to thank Annie Duke for being our representative and testifying at the house Judiciary Committee hearing on online gaming. Annie is extremely bright and well spoken so she was a logical choice to be our spokesperson. Annie said there were some excellent points made but there is still a lot of work left. I would encourage any of you who are passionate about this issue to join Poker Players Alliance (www.pokerplayersalliance.org) if you haven't already done so.
I watched my pick for the #1 team in college football go down Thursday night. Arizona beat Oregon but only because the Oregon quarterback got knocked out of the game in the first quarter. The backup quarterback was also injured but I still believe Oregon could beat any other team in the country when they are healthy. -DB
