These Damn Tournaments!

All the Las Vegas poker players are out of town with tournament fever. A lot of them are still in Australia and the rest have gone to Tunica. There are so many tournaments with so many different sponsors it makes it tough to get a real poker game.

It seems everyone I talk to has the flu. The weather is so bad there is nothing to do outside so I sit around watching TV, movies, and basketball. The NBA is fun to watch; it is hard to believe how good those guys really are. For a guy that played in the 1950's it is really amazing. I can just see myself trying to guard Kobe Bryant. He is just an unbelievable athlete. Oh well, fifty years from now, Kobe will probably watch in awe at the eight foot guards and wonder how they got so good.

I did get to watch the last season of the Sopranos. For some reason, I missed it on TV. Most of the main characters got killed but I understand there is talk of making a movie. I had the pleasure of meeting the Soprano cast (twice actually) and they are a group of nice people. I wish them all luck.

My son, Todd, is building a bar/restaurant called Todd's Tavern. It is going to have a poker theme with pictures of all the pros and a poker room for tournaments. It should be a cool place to hang out and I know the food will be great. Todd is a terrific cook himself, and I know he will oversee the kitchen and make sure it is top quality. It is amazing what a nice place you can build for $10 - $15 million!

I am determined to get out of the house next week and hit some golf balls. Sitting around makes me feel awful and it is very depressing….so no matter what the weather - I'm getting out!-DB
