DOYLISM OF THE DAY: "If you don't prepare to win, be prepared to lose"
I don't much like these winter months. The weather is so cold outside so if all the poker players are traveling to tournaments there are no cash games. I hear there are lots of games at the Commerce in Los Angeles so I'll try to go over there next week. Gus Hansen is supposedly coming to town in the next couple of days so maybe the action will pick up here. I would much rather stay home then leave town.
There is a big push going on to have a major TV show at the Venetian Hotel. There are some major players involved, headed by Merv Adelson. He has access to the best directors and producers in the business. There will be ten pros that host the show. I'm on board as is Antonio, Phil Laak, Gus Hansen, Todd Brunson, Eli Elezra, Jen Harman, Clonie Gowen, and Daniel Negreanu.
Mike Caro is an important cog in the operation because there will be seminars and teaching classes. Nobody does these things as well as Mike. I just don't know how much time he has available.
I took a break from writing and went to a Sushi Bar called Naked Fish near my house. I can't believe I went sixty-five years turning my nose up at sushi. Now it is my favorite food and I eat it 4-5 times a week. All the hotels have Sushi Restaurants but the locals go to the Naked Fish and Sushi Fever. If you are in Las Vegas you should try those places.
I've been swimming every morning for the past twenty years. With my bad leg it is hard to get much physical exercise but swimming doesn't bother my leg. I hate to keep griping about the bad weather but it is too cold her to swim even though I keep my pool at 90 degrees the year round. Most years I can swim through the winter but this year the cold goes right through to the bone so I have stopped until the weather gets back to normal. I was a lifeguard when I was young so swimming has been a way of life for me. Come on summer!-DB
