DOYLISM OF THE DAY: "A successful job is when you don't know if you are working or playing."

In the aftermath of losing four close friends to the Grim Reaper, I've decided to visit a local cardiologist for a check up. I don't think I have a problem but better safe than sorry. I'm going to have a procedure known as 64-slice where a fluid is injected into your upper body and the doctor can see any obstructions or other problems. I hate to go to doctors and I'll be glad to get it over.

Hoyt Corkins is leading the tournament in Tunica. Besides representing DoylesRoom, I'm pulling for him because he is a much underrated player. All his peers know he is a great player but because he doesn't make a fool out of himself on TV, he gets overlooked for a lot of the invitational poker tournaments. It's really disgusting to me when the tournaments want the players to put on a show instead of playing poker.

I think a lot of the players are back from Australia and more are returning from Mississippi so maybe we can have some real poker this week. The next big tournament is at the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles. I was planning on going to Cabo on a golf outing but I am going to cancel because the Commerce is usually a good tournament and a lot of cash games for ten days or so. The NBC Heads Up Tournament starts the 28th so I feel obligated to play because it gets a lot of exposure for DoylesRoom on national TV. It's going to be a real shame if Hoyt doesn't get invited. I certainly don't plan on making a spectacle of myself; I'm just going to try to play my best poker.

It's kind of lonesome around here with Todd being in Mississippi. His wife, Anjela, is visiting her home in Russia. Pam is sick and Cheryl is in California. Thank goodness for Louise, Casper and Cutie being here.

After watching American Idol and laughing my butt off I'm going to bed and hope tomorrow is a better day. -DB
