10k Mix Championship

Well I learned a new game, had some fun and even made a little money playing the $10k World Championship Mix games event. I finshed 14th.

It was the very first time had ever played 2-7 triple draw and I didn't even know the rules, but I actually enjoyed the game and was very lucky at it.

No Limit Holdem and Pot Limit Omaha were the last two of the eight games and a little smaller than the rest, 2-7 was the biggest and the first up, and was scheduled to be first up at every restart which included start of day 2 then at 24,16, and 8 players, which meant no limit and PLO would probably not even get played sometimes before starting over at 2-7. This seams a bit fishy considering most of players commitee, if not all, come from the small handfull of players in the world who play this game on a regular basis. The tournament directors showed amazing judgement in deviating from this plan and drawing randomly for the game at each redraw rather then making it a mostly 2-7 tournament at the end, after some protest from the players who wanted a fair shot at other games.

I think the players commitee is made up of great people who are doing an amazing job for us. In this case, however, it is hard to believe that this was an oversight and not a little selfserving. If I am willing to jump in and play a game I don't even know the rules at, and five I only play once a year, at least give me a fair shot to play the games that lured me into the event.

Other than that I liked the event and will play again next year and try and get even luckier, assumming they dont go back to the "restart at 2-7" thing next year. By all means have a 2-7 triple draw event too, i might play, just so long as I know what I am getting in to.

Today I am going to play the $2500 NL event and, hopefully, will have to wait and watch fellow Fulltilter Mike Swick's UFC fight on Tivo in the morning.
