Am I a passionate man?

I read Doyle's last blog in which he commended me for being passionate about politics.

Firstly, I can't tell you how much it means to me that Doyle takes the time to read my blog, but I really can't take credit for being passionate about politics. I am very interested and passionate about this particular presidential race, but in the past have paid very little attention to elections and have never voted. Even in 2004, where I was fairly aware of how bad Bush/Cheney were, I didn't get into it. I just see this as such an important time in the history of our country and really feel that Obama is the only one that gives us a chance to turn things around.

I also read Danny's last blog where he said he loves the game that is politics. I on the other hand hate the game that is politics and most of the players who play in it. It is often even more rigged and unfair than Olympic boxing or a beauty pageant. One of the things that drew me to poker as a game was that it was a game based on fairness where, when the rules are properly enforced, the best players eventually won the money, if they persevered.

Ours is a very bad political system, but it is the best one I know of. The shocking rise of Obama during this election has however given me renewed hope and respect for the system. It appears that, if things get bad enough, it might just work.

I am, after all is said and done, totally engrossed in this election, even though it appears to be becoming a runaway for Obama. I can't wait to see what craziness the McCain camp will try next in there desperation to win at all cost. I was disgusted by Hilary Clinton, but it turns out McCain and his camp are even worse. In waiting for tonight's debate I have all the excitement of Erick Lindgren waiting for a conference championship game.
