I was contacted by Lisa Wheeler (the person responsible for organizing most every Charity poker tournament in Vegas) about an event being held to benefit Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in memory of Mindy Trinidad. Mindy was beautiful up and comming new star of womens poker. She made the final table of the Womens event at this years WSOP and won Ladies event at the Reno Hiltons Pot of Gold this past summer. She began feeling sick durring the Pot of Gold tournament and had to leave before the main event and was eventually diagnosed with Leukemia. She passed last month.

My father also died from the same type of leukemia 5yrs ago. My father was a cartographer and we are almost certain that exposure to radiation while mapping the desert areas in Nevada many years ago was responsible for the condition that appeared 35 yrs later. This type of adult leukemia is thought to be caused by exposure to chemicals, radiation or other environmental factors, but is much in need of more research.

The Mindy Trinidad Memorial event will be held at the Hard Rock Casino's new poker room Dec. 12th at 3pm.
