A $45,000 Limo ride to Bean Town

I took a $45,000 (profit) limo ride! And entered "Bean Town"

Tuesday morning's activities were truly unbelievable! In the limo to our Premier League heat sat Andy Black, Juha Helppi, Eddie Sharf, Rolande De Wolfe, and I. About 15 minutes into the drive I criticized Tony G's all-in move of $46,000 with 4-4 over the top of the Devilfish's $13,000 raise the day before. Black then reached out and said, "I'll bet you $5,000 that he wasn't all-in." I remembered that he was all-in, so I shook his hand immediately. Then Sharf said, "I'll bet you $2,000 as well." I thought for a moment and remembered that Tony G was all-in, not Devilfish. Then Juha and Rolande wanted a piece of the action, and I bet them both $5,000. Only then did Sharf say, "I'm sure that we win." At this point they all wanted to double their bets, and I asked myself, "Am I right or wrong? If I'm right then when was Fish all-in?" I suddenly remembered that he was all-in with Kd-10d, vs. Tony's A-9.

So I told Andy, "$10,000 is enough for me to win from you." Then I described the real hand that Devilfish went all-in with, but Black said, "That was earlier in the match." And all of a sudden they all wanted to bet more money, so I kicked it up to $10,000 apiece with Juha and Rolande (Rolande was screaming for $15,000), up to $15,000 with Andy, and up to $5,000 with Sharf. They were all screaming for more bets! I seriously wondered if I had lost my mind, but I decided that if I had, then what was $45,000? Black begged me to bet more, and again I said, "I don't want to bust you Andy, save your money!" He said, "I'll be perfectly happy to bet you $20,000." I thought, "He certainly wants to beat me out of $20,000, so I might as well beat him out of it." A condition of the bets was that they all pay me that day, and if I lost then I would pay them within a week, if not sooner. About 5 minutes after the betting ended Andy offered me $18,000 to give up the bet! I said, "I'll take $19,000." [Just in case I had lost my mind!] And he said, "Deal." Wow, now I was locked into a $44,000 profit or a $6,000 loss.

One reason that everyone bet me was that I lost a $7,000 memory bet to Andy here last year. But one interesting fact is this: Juha and Rolande weren't even watching the heat! Sharf played in it, and Andy had watched most of it, but not all of it from the green room. Wow, what a score! And pretty unlikely as well, as I had never bet more than $10,000 in my life on a memory bet. Rolande and I were playing Chinese poker for $500 a point, and he had me down pretty good, but the momentum of the bet seemed to swing things in my favor, and by the time we arrived he owed me three points ($1,500).

YES "Bean Town!" But a bad bluff hurt my points standing

I went on a huge streak at Chinese vs. Rolande, and when the smoke cleared I was up 112 points or $56,000. "Bean Town" means $100,000 winner for the day or more. And when the smoke cleared that's where I stood, exactly $100,000 winner (44k + 56k) for the day! I also bet $10,000 on Devilfish to win vs. Tony G in a "Win only bet." Fish had $350,000 out of $600,000 in chips and Tony G was out and offered me $3,200 for his $5,000 bet and I turned it down. Devilfish finished third, and I broke even, too bad. It was great to win so much money today, but I finished fifth place in my heat, and I only have 5 points after three heats, ouch. I limped in with 8-8, bet the flop of Qs-9d-2c, and was called by Juha and Sharf. On the turn I bluffed out $27,000 when the Ad hit, and Helppi called me with Kd-Qd, which was a pair and a flush draw. Amazingly Sharf folded A-2!!! I bluffed off almost all of my chips when a jack came on the river and Helppi made a nice call.
