Still tired? 18.5 hours of sleep no good!!

I flew home Sunday night and arrived at my house at midnight. Then Rolande De Wolf messaged me asking if I wanted to play Chinese poker online for $1,000 a point. I agreed, and the match was on! At 4:30 am or so, when I hit 81 points loser, I felt like an idiot. But we kept on playing until things turned, and at 6:00 am, when my wife got up, I was losing only 30 points or so. I woke the kids up at 7:00 am, and pretty much decided that I was going to play for awhile longer. By noon, I decided that sleeping for two hours-I was to pick the kids up from school at 3:00 pm--was going to be more painful then staying up. Roland and I started playing two Chinese games at once, and the money was flying. It was hard to keep up with both, and score, especially after being up all night. Finally 2:30 pm rolled along, and I declared "Four more hands, the last two for double." I won all four, and ended at my peak for the night, up 49 points or $49,000.

I ran my kids back and forth to their personal trainers, tutors, etc…And finally, at 6:30 pm I fell asleep on the couch watching the Cavs vs. the Pistons. My wife roused me at 7:00 pm and sent me to bed. I woke up at 1:30 pm the next day feeling pretty bad. Of course, after sleeping 18 ½ hours I was expecting to feel great!! Not so, the 18.5 didn't have me feeling very good, and as my wife said, "What do you expect, you haven't had anything to eat or drink for 19 hours?" Good point.

It was now Tuesday, and I tried to take it easy all day. Tues night I played in a few UBT events online at UB, as well as a few UBT $50 buy-in sit-and-gos. I also got caught up on the TV show "Hero's" with my wife, watching the last two weeks of the season. I love the show, but I think the very end of the finale could have been done better. Still, all-in-all I liked it. Somehow, I stayed up until 4:00 am watching "Superman" for the 10th time! I love the sequence where he rescues the airplane, and the crowd (at a baseball game) cheers him afterwards.

Exhaustion leads to depression!

Wednesday I was a bit depressed, which never happens to me. I could easily recognize that I was exhausted, and thus I was a little gloomy; yet I knew that all I had to do was go back to bed, but I couldn't as I needed to pick up my kids from school, and deliver them to their various stops. OK, Weds. night we were scheduled to go to "Portfolio night" for my youngest son Nick. I wasn't feeling well (the light was too bright outside or something!), and my wife kept saying, "You don't have to go, no big deal." But I kept insisting that I was going to go-I do not like to ever miss anything like that as I know my time at home with the kids is only 18 years. Finally, I relented and stayed home, and then Nick and Kathy decided to stay home as well!

At around 11:00 pm I realized that I needed to write an article, no matter how badly I felt. I started writing and Mike Matusow called me to play Chinese poker online for $500 a point. OK, I thought, I'll play him while I write the article. The next thing you know, Roland has just woke up (in London) and he wants to play as well. So we played three handed, keeping scores on "Yahoo Messenger" as we went. At first I was losing almost 40 points, but then we kept playing until 6:00 am, and when the smoke cleared, I was up only $2,000. At least I finished my article!! My wife stared at me in disbelief, "You've been up all night again! As tired as you were?" Yes honey, you've seen it all before.

I just really need a workout, because when I do workout my body realizes how tired I really am. For example, after getting up in Atlantic City one day, I went for a run on the boardwalk. After I finished, I realized how tired I was, and promptly went back to bed! For me, working out let's me know how I'm really feeling. Otherwise, I could run myself down pretty far, what with all of the obligations I have: poker games, business decisions, filming, writing, etc…

Fell in the middle of my run!

I told my wife to set the alarm for 4:30 pm. She looked disappointed, but agreed. I got up at 2:30 and picked up Nick from school. In between picking up and dropping off my boys, I went for a run. After 1.5 miles, I fell down! Ouch, how could that happen? Upon closer inspection, I thanked my lucky stars for all of those years that I fell down when I was a kid (good landing practice). Because there was no blood drawn!! I knew how to land, that's for sure! I landed on my left forearm as I rolled over on my back. I sat there waiting for some sharper pain, at least a bloody finger or something, but I escaped remarkably unscathed; still, I felt kind of stupid…

It is now 10:00 pm, and I hope that I do not play Chinese all night long. Just let me get to bed before 2:00 am, please! But in a moment I will call Matusow, that much is for sure!
