Running Badby Nick Heather | Published: Nov 23, '10 |
It’s been a pretty abysmal few weeks for me poker wise , I’ve had something like 14 losing sessions in a row, tournies and cash games. I am the type of player and person that relies on confidence. When i’m confident I feel like I can outplay anybody in any tournament or game, but it’s when my confidence gets low that I really struggle.
Theres times (now included) that I wonder am I good enough to be doing this and the thing is, deep down I know I am its just when things aren’t going my way I think too negatively and I look at other players on my tables and think I am not as good as them, when in actually fact I am as good if not better than a lot of these guys.
So what it comes down to is trying to get the confidence back. So I’ve been thinking about when I’ve had big months live and online and how I was feeling around these times.
It usually only takes winning a tournament, even a small one to gain this confidence back which allows me to play my A game. So for the next couple of weeks I’m going to play a bunch of smaller stuff online. I think if I get the feeling of running over a table for a few hours my confidence in my own ability will come back.
I played a full Sunday schedule last night given it was the final night of the FTOPS. I had a deep run in the Ongame 100k guaranteed $100 rebuy and was 3/11 but managed only 10th after losing 2 pretty big flips. Pretty disappointing stuff, but that’s just the way things are going right now.
In terms of the live schedule, the Fitz have a monkey game this Saturday that I may head in and play, if it gets over 100 players I think i’ll register late and give it a spin. After that its to Galway for the UKIPT, I love Galway so i’m really looking forward to that.
In non-poker related news, I’ve moved into a new house with two friends and I’m loving the new setup. Had a bunch of the poker creeps over for a Sunday grind session last night which was fun. Hopefully we can ship some big tounries in this house over the coming months.
It’s time to start winning again!
Oh and congrats to my friend John O’Shea on his 3rd place out in the EMOP in Malta, he really seems to be figuring out this live poker thing!
