LOL Pumpkinaments: Update from Mexicoby Katie Dozier | Published: Nov 05, '12 |
As another half-month stint in Mexico comes to a close, I continue to think seriously about fully relocating here. On this trip, I’ve been surprised by experiencing a heat wave that was hotter than when I was here in July. Considering that air conditioning is very uncommon in Rosarito, and that I enjoy figurative sweats in poker more than literally sweating while I play, this actually matters to me.
But setting my spoiled 69 degree temperature preference aside, it’s been a great trip. On Halloween, I got a little crafty with my pumpkin. Considering that I spent that night grinding on PokerStars, it seemed the most appropriate choice:
Since being back on PS, I’ve played about 150k hands. This trip, it was nice to take 2nd in a Sunday $11 quad, win a $33, and some 180-mans. I can’t resist taking a screen shot anytime my stack has 314k to match my screen name, and considering that I came to the FT 8/9, it may have actually been good luck:
Also, I had a fun time with Collin writing our first joint Card Player column, and our first joint PokerStrategy video was released (free to view here).
Next up, I’m going back to Vegas for a few days to see friends and play a couple of Venetian DeepStacks. This summer there were quite a few grinders in them (especially on the days when the WSOP had no NL event) so I’m interested to see if the fields are actually even softer in November than the summer.
Following that, Collin and I will be going to Montana to visit his Dad. Considering that the house is in the middle of nowhere on a lake, it should be a welcome respite before cooking up a storm for Thanksgiving back in Vegas.
