Leaving for Aruba Tomorrow

Tomorrow morning Stephanie and I are heading out to Aruba for The Aruba Poker Classic. We leave Birmingham at 6 a.m. and fly Charlotte to Oranjestad, Aruba. We are staying at a hotel called The Mill Resort and Suites. It looks like a lot of fun. I can't wait. The event has two starting days. Day 1a starts Tuesday, but I'll probably try to wait until Wednesday to play. That means we'll have all the additional days to do fun stuff in Aruba. If anyone is going down there take your golf clubs. I'd like to try to play. I will definitely be playing the PokerStars WCOOP Main Event on Sunday, and I'm still trying to decided if I want to play the 5000 dollar WCOOP HORSE event on Saturday. I'm +EV in it, and it would be fun to play; however, I also wouldn't mind a day of watersports in Aruba :)

Since I last posted not a whole lot has been going on. I've spent a lot of time just hanging out with my Mom at our house here in Birmingham. My Mom and I exercised 6 of the 7 days, and I've been eating well. I think I've lost around 4-5 pounds, so I'm down to around 214. My weight has been something I've struggled with for the past 10 years, really. It's a constant battle, but I hope to start consistently running atleast 3 days a week and eating kind of decent. As I've said many time, traveling the poker circuit and staying healthy is almost impossible. How Chad Brown, Scott Clements, and a few others do it is beyond me. Monday night I got to see some old friends as we went out to watch the MNF at a local restaurant/bar. I got out one day to play golf with my Dad. I shot a decent front 9 but kind of fell apart on the back. It was the first time I got to play a round with my brand new clubs, and I played much much better. Also, I picked up Nikki Sixx's "The Heroin Diaries" from Books-a-Million yesterday. I'm about halfway through, and it's a fantastic read. I used to like Motley Crue a lil bit, and this is a must read for metal fans. It gives great insight into what life is like behind the scenes for a lot of these rockstars.

I've played very little poker since I posted. I did flirt with decent money last night finishing 26th in the 320 on Stars. Online MTTs are so silly and addictingly fun. The game of poker has changed so much. Last night I raised on the exact bubble on 4 consecutive hand-for-hand hands. Two years ago I would have taken all 4 of these pots down, but last night I got repopped all-in ALL 4 times. People are getting pretty good. Hopefully I can hit big soon. I'm about a quarter-million dollar loser overall this year, so it's going to take something big to get out. Atleast 40 percent of those losses are from high limit Chinese poker, Omaha 8 and casino games. I've cut those out now though. All you can do is make your mistakes and learn from them. I AM just 22 :)
