It's 12:45 p.m. local time, and I start playing WPT Barcelona at 5 p.m. I am going to sleep until around 4:30 because I am still kinda on the American sleep schedule. Last night I took a nap at 9 p.m. and awoke at 2 a.m., and I've been up since. We're slated to play tonight until like 1 a.m., so I don't like the prospect of being awake for 24 hours straight. Yesterday I went to bed around 10:30 a.m. local and awoke at 5 p.m. Stephanie and I then went out into the city to the famous Plaza de Catalunya and La Rambles. We ate a nice Spanish meal. I had a Seafood Paella dish that was sickkkkk. Later, we walked around and shopped a bit. Strangely, we ran into multiple bracelet winner Tom Schneider deep in the city of Barcelona. There were tens of thousands of people in the area, so seeing someone I knew was shocking.
Yesterday's day 1a of the tournament drew just 90 people. I'm guess today will draw around 175-200. Almost all of the Spaniards are below average players, so hopefully I draw a lot of them at my tables as opposed to the few American pros who made the flight over. We've just moved over hotels to H10 Marina Barcelona. It's cheaper but an even better hotel than Hotel Icaria. My friend Dave Anderson and I stayed here one night last year and enjoyed it.
