Long, long day. We've arrived and checked into a motel in the small town of Elk City in the west part of Oklahoma. We headed out around noon MST today and have just arrived 15 hours later at 4 a.m. CST. When we first started driving today, I realized I was going too fast because the trailer was fishtailing. We were relegated to averaging a senior citizen-like 58 mph over the course of the 760 miles we traveled today. We stopped just a couple of times for gas and once for dinner at a hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant in Santa Rosa, New Mexico. The only real trouble we ran into was heavy traffic and heavy snowfall just east of Albuquerque, NM. I anticipated making it to Oklahoma City tonight, but OKC was a lot farther than I thought. We'll probably sleep til 11 a.m. and then get back on the road. This leg will be the worst as it's a very boring, marathon trip down I-40 through Oklahoma and Arkansas. We should arrive in Huntsville, Alabama tomorrow night at midnight or so. I'll probably spend the night there and then get up early to help Stephanie unload her few items from my car. I'll then drive to Birmingham to get home in time to play some of the Sunday tournaments. We've gone 1010 miles total. Time for sleep.
