Weekend Poker Wrap Up

Good weekend. I arrived from Birmingham a little late on Saturday afternoon, so I was unable to make it to the Bama/Vandy game. I did watch it on TV though. It was a thriller. Senior, Mykal (sp?) Riley shot lights out in OT on Senior Day to give Bama the victory in OT. With this win and an Auburn loss to Arkansas we clinched the five seed in the SEC West and will play Florida in the SEC tournament in ATL next Thursday night. I won't be able to make it to that game, but I'll definitely go over to Atlanta and watch them play Mississippi State on Friday night if they beat Florida. Maybe we can pull a miracle and run out the SEC tournament to make it to the big dance.

It was a good weekend of poker. Yesterday I kind of just lounged around and played a couple online MTTs and some cash games. The cash games went well, and I finished 9th in the FTP Saturday 300 dollar 6max event, which I guess is considered a final table. I was chipleader with like 27 left, but that obv means very lil in online tournies with the structures. I booked 2000 for the finish but had my eyes on the 25000 dollars for first. Today I played several tournaments online. I shallow cashed the Stars second chance for a few hundred. The big score of the day was the UltimateBet main event. I entered the final table as chipleader, but I think I played poorly and things went poorly at the FT. I finished a disappointing 6th for 9000 dollars while first would've been 45000 :( I'm very happy with how deep I've been getting in the large fields though, and I'm as confident in my tournament game right now as ever. Basically, I treat these online MTTs as warmups for the big, live series, so hopefully things go my way at Bellagio in April. I was going to fly out to Vegas for The Wynn Classic Main Event next Friday, but I think I'll muck my previously scheduled plane ticket and just relax around Tuscaloosa until I depart for Vegas around March 27th. It is so nice to have a semi-normal life without having to move hotels and catch flights all the time. As long as things continue to go well online I could see myself cutting down on the hectic travel schedule drastically. I've also been able to hang out with friends and do things that you're not able to do sitting in a hotel room.

In a few hours my Dad and I are going to catch a flight to Orlando to go down and watch some spring training games. Our schedule is:

Tomorrow: St. Louis @ Atlanta in Lake Buena Vista

Tuesday: New York Yankees vs Toronto in Tampa

Thursday: Atlanta @ Detroit in Lakeland

I can't wait.
