Weekend Poker Wrap Up...25th in FTP Million

Woke up around noon today. My mom and I ate lunch outside at a Mexican restaurant because the weather was nice. We then walked around the track at a nearby park for half an hour. I needed the exercise.

Bah. This one will be painful to write. Twenty minutes ago I busted in 25th place out of like 2200 players in the FTP Sunday Million. I sucked out a couple times along the way and won like three races. As I've said before it appears that is just the reality of what it takes to go deep in online MTT. Obviously, there is a ton of skill involved, too, like getting yourself in the most +EV situations along the way, so I'm in no way taking anything away from the guys that do it full-time on the net. I earned around 5000 dollars for the finish, but I was probably in for like 3000 worth of tournament on the day. I also made a few thousand playing cash, so it was an ok day after grinding 10 hours.

Yesterday was similar. I airballed the 6 or 7 tournaments I played, but I made like 4000 playing cash to book a couple thousand winner on the day. I put in like 10 or 11 hours yesterday, too. Tournaments are so sick. I wish there was more good action in online cash games. I'm not really going to knock head with regulars. Sometimes I find myself wondering if I should have spent more time playing cash games along the course of my career. It's doubtful I would've made as much as I've made playing tournaments, but I was very lucky to pad my bankroll with some large scores early. Cash games are probably the route to go though instead of grinding tournaments. They're just brutal. Anyway enough babbling.

I'm still in Birmingham. Tomorrow is Saint Patrick's Day, so I anticipate waking up around 2 p.m. and then joining friends for drinks. Also, Birmingham is a regional host for the NCAA basketball tournament starting Friday. I'm amped. Birmingham drew a bunch of interesting teams and matchups. I'll be there all weekend. Not sure what I'll do the rest of this week.

Congrats Justin "robert07" Young for finishing 3rd in the Wynn 3000 tourney. Big sighhhhhhhhhhh. I'm tired of going deep in tournies the last year and a half and not being able to hit the monster score :(

Right now I'm happy. Right now life is good. Right now I need to go to bed.
