Five Star Series Begins Tomorrow

The Five Star series begins at The Bellagio here in Las Vegas tomorrow afternoon. The first event will cost 2000 American Dollars. I am very excited. I have not played live poker since my brief appearance in the LAPC Main Event. I usually despise being around all the ego and the degeneracy that is live poker, but I can't help but get really excited about a series like this. I love playing live, but the ever-present breaches of etiquette tilt me really hard. The kids do the same thing online too though. It is amazing how some of the best young online players still talk shit in chatboxes after hands even after they've been playing professionally for a couple of years. Blah. Enough. I really crushed at the Five Diamond series in December, and if I can match that in this series I'd be stoked.

In other news, the guys and I have been having a lot of fun. We are really enjoying this mansion. We spent most of the past weekend in and out of sportsbooks watching the NCAA games and betting them against each other no vig style. Sunday we played the online tournaments. Things went badly for me and I went 0 for 8 or 9 tournies. Yesterday we joined a very nearby 24 hour fitness gym. We've played basketball a couple times and Monday we lifted weights and ran. I really hope we're able to keep a routine like this up. It's so easy to spend worthless hours and hours and hours in front of the laptop or TV when you're in our business. I hope to be able to get out and do a bunch of different stuff and add a lot of dimensions to my life over the next couple of months. Fellow poker players I really recommend you guys doing the same. Last night we played several hours of beer pong inside our house. 'Twas a blast. Today, Eric, Adam and I played golf at Bali Hai golf club right next to Mandalay Bay. This was a beautiful (and very expensive) course. I'm still waiting on my car to arrive from an auto transport company, and it has my golf clubs and a lot of my clothes and stuff in it. That said, we had to rent clubs and wear tennis shoes :) The weather was just perfect. basebaldy played great, but Adam and I kinda hacked around. I look forward to doing it again, but I doubt we'll be able to get around to playing much with this busy poker month going on.

The last 2 weeks or so was pretty meh for me playing online. I think I made a couple of thou, but I also scooped a WSOP ME seat sometime last week, so there's some equity. I've continued to be a nit with game selection and it's working really well in heads up cash. I can feel myself getting better with each session, and that is a nice feeling.

Not too much else going on. I had to buy a new cell phone last night. We were in the Whole Foods market, and I was spinning my Blackberry around in my hands like a fish when I dropped it and it shattered on the floor. I got one called the AT&T Tilt. I liked it in the store but now I'm not too sure. There are all these features that I don't really need/understand. I also finally got my AC adapter in so my computer is back to life...weeeeeeeeeeeeee. We've also been watching a lot of baseball since the season opened up on Tuesday. My Braves have started off a disappointing 0-2. ul. Anyway, hopefully one of the 5 of us roomies playing the event tomorrow will win. Hope things are going well for you guys.
