Out of the 1000 rebuy. I was in for 8000 total, which is the most I've been in for in the five times I've played this event. Keep in mind the absolute minimum you should spend is 4000 after rebuying right away and of course double adding on. I ran bad in the rebuy period. I had a nitty table where I recognized only Mike Sica and John Esposito. No one else was even under the age of 35. I tried to speed things up as I raised the minimum dark every single UTG and moved all-in quite a bit. The first big hand came up against Espo. Guy raised to 300, Espo called in the SB and I called in the BB with JT. Flop KT6 one heart. Checked around. Turn 5h. Espo checked I bet 500, guy folded, and then Espo moved in for 2700 or something. I knew he had a draw and called. He showed 76hh. River heart. Yuck. Next I got all-in for like an 8000 chip pot with KQ vs A5hh on Q93 two hearts. Turn Th to turn me dead. Then I finally got it in bad with J3hh vs Sica's AA in a limped pot on J54. I took 10000 to the break despite having paid for 16000 in chips. Next two hours not much happened and I took 11000 to the second break. We got back from the second break, and a guy opened to 900 at 150/300. A guy moved in for 5800, and I found magic AA in the SB and moved in. First guy folded and second guy showed JJ. AK65x to boost me to 16000ish. Very next hand on the button it was folded to Espo in the cutoff. He made it 1000, I made it 3200 on the button with TT. He moved in for 8400. I called of course. He showed AKo. K698x. The reality is you need to win like everyone of these flips to win tournaments. I was down to 7300 but got back to 9000 when I busted in the end of level 3. I'm kicking myself for this play because I think it was impatient and ill-advised. For the first time I left the Rio upset with myself so far this summer. This guy who's name I can't recall opened to 1000 at 150/300 (25) anda newly arriving kid called on the button. The first guy had 6500 and looked really weak, so I decided to squeeze it to 3900 with JTo out of the BB and hope he tossed. He automucked like I thought, but then the kid went into the tank. The clown hollywooded for a full minute and gave me this ghey staredown before announcing all-in. He showed me AA. I'm obviously priced into calling my last 5100. They see that on TV though and think it's correct. The board gave me a tease J9846. I don't really see myself mucking preflop, so the result would have been the same as I would've CRAI the flop and still lost, but that doesn't change the fact that the squeeze was bad.
The omaha 8 event closed five minutes before I made it to the cage, so I'll play Event #7 a 2000 NLHE tomorrow afternoon. I've got a cute little 26000 dollar WSOP hole to dig out of, but hopefully it won't be much of a problem.
