In the Money, On to Day 2 of Event #43

I'm in the money and on to day 2, I believe, as chipleader in the 1500 dollar PLO8 tournament. I have 86900 and the average is like 31000 with 69 players left. This is my first ever live cash in a non-NLHE event. I think I was like 0 for 15 coming in. Over the course of the day I didn't really recognize many people at my table. The Simpsons producer Sam Simon was there all day, Eric "Rizen" Lynch, an unbelievably intoxicated Jim Meehan, and Layne Flack. I will detail just one hand before the tournament is over. It came just short of the money when I spiked huge on Layne Flack for my tournament life. A very weak player with lots of chips opened for 3000, Layne called from the SB, and I called 2000 more with Kd2d6s4s. Flop Ks9s2c. Layne checked, I led out 7000, first guy folded and then Layne moved me in for my last 21400. I thought for a long time, but getting 21:10 was too good of a price with Kings up and a flush draw. I thought Layne almost certainly had a draw because it's def hard to smack a made hand in PLO8 when you defend from the SB on K92. Layne showed me the absolute worst case scenario AsAc9s9c to have my flush draw dead along with his middle set. This is like one of the only hands he could show me where the price wouldn't be right to call. I was dead to one of the case two kings, and miraculously I got there when I rivered a King. Layne was not happy. I'm really excited to play again tomorrow. This event has been a lot of fun so far. The only time this WSOP I've had more fun playing poker was at my final table, I think. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

I did an interview afterwards with the lovely Tiffany Michelle which can be found here.
