Interview, Golf, Nashville, Poker, Olympics, etc

The last few days I've been in Birmingham. I've really struggled to get off this silly sleeping schedule. For like 6 nights I couldn't get to sleep before 6 a.m. in the morning and didn't awake until atleast 3 p.m., lol. This doesn't work well with the real world business schedule, I've learned. I got in at like 4 a.m. last night, but I forced myself to get up at 11 a.m. this morning. Hopefully I can get back to something that's semi-normal because that schedule makes me feel worthless.

I did an interview earlier this week with Bernard Lee (of 2005 WSOP ME fame). I'd previously done an interview with Bernard back in February that I really enjoyed. I think this one came out well too. BL is a brilliant guy and is fun to chat with. If anyone is interested in listening to the interview you can do so for free by going to the iTunes store and downloading the podcast. To find it, type "Bernard Lee" in the search box. You should then see a podcast called Rounders Radio. Click on that title. You'll then see a list of the radio shows and should see the one with my name on it. Click "get episode". If anyone has any trouble finding it email me and I'll try to help you out.

The other day my Dad and I had a chance to get out to the golf course at Altadena Valley in Birmingham. Had a really nice time even though I was really spraying all my shots and in general hacking around. It was pretty much to be expected after not playing for four months. I'm gonna try to play a lot of golf this semester since I have such late classes. I think it would be a fun hobby and I wouldn't mind getting really good at it. I'm not too realistic about getting too good though.

Last night some of my boys and I went out to the ever-exciting Thirsty Thursday at the minor league baseball Birmingham Barons game. Dollar beers. Had a really good time and followed with a trip to this joint called Fox and the Hound in Birmingham that was pretty cool.

Later today I'm headed up to Nashville to chill with an old friend of mine that now lives there. I'm excited about it. Tomorrow we're going to the Tennessee Titans vs. St. Louis Rams preseason game. Can't wait! I went to the Music City Bowl at The Coliseum (now named L.P. Field) a few years ago for the Bama vs. Minnesota game and really enjoyed it. It's a fun place to watch a game. I didn't realize it until I pulled up the rosters a few minutes ago, but U of Alabama standout WR Matt Caddell actually signed with St. Louis after going undrafted in 2008, so hopefully he'll see some playing time. Wow it's almost football season...yesssssssssssssssssssssssss.

I did play poker for the first time in a while the other night. I decided to play the FTOPS event #1. I busted in the last minutes of the first hour. I played a few others and turned a lil profit when I actually final tabled the, like, 130 player 1000 dollar tournament on the ever-sketchy Absolute poker. First was like 33000 but I finished 7th for like 4 dimes. It was a real who's who of online MTT stars at the final table, so I was excited for the opportunity to watch and learn some things from them that I'll try to implement in my online MTT game. I might play a few of the FTOPS events online next week but will skip the tournaments again this Sunday. I really would like to play the 2500 dollar FTOPS event next Saturday, but I have prior engagements and will probably have to miss it.

In others news I've been eating really healthy this week. I also stayed away from alcohol for a week...until last night. Weeeeeeeeeeeee. I haven't made it back to Tuscaloosa yet to look into buying a condo. I have been doing a lil research online though, and I think there is some nice value down there. I'll probably look around next week when I have a chance to head back down there. Oh, also I'm really excited that the Olympics kick off tonight. It's always fun seeing the stories that come out of the Games.

That's all I got for ya.
