WCOOP 10000 Event, Weekend Wrapup, Etc.

This hand took place today in the 10000 dollar WCOOP (World Championship of Online Poker) Highrollers event on Pokerstars. It was the twelfth hand of the tournament. It's a shame because I was really looking forward to playing this one. This kind of stuff happens though, and I'm lucky I'd been able to avoid one of these nightmare, early hands in all of the other big buy in events that I've played to this point in my career. I do remember at the 2006 CPC event in the Bahamas having to sweat a freeroll twenty minutes into the 5000 dollar event. I got red AA vs black AA AIPF and was tortured by a flop of all clubs. We chopped that hand.

I played about 9 or 10 other tournaments over the course of the day and cashed in 3 of them: the 500 dollar WCOOP, the FTP 750 thousand guaranteed, and the 320 dollar WCOOP second chance. All three cashes were shallow. Congrats to my friend Jon Little for finishing 7th in said 10000 dollar WCOOP event for a nice payday.

Outside of poker, the weekend was fantastic. Bama hosted Tulane in football for our home opener. Bama's offense looked awful in what was a sloppy 20 to 6 win. Still, we're 2-0 now but I expect we'll slip a little bit from our previous number 13 spot. Bama home games weekends are always great. I saw a lot of old friends including my boys Brandt Kent and Rob Berryman (33rd place finisher in the 2006 WSOP Main Event). We also had a pretty good time tailgaiting on the quad before the game with a bunch of friends of ours from high school.

Aside from all this, not much has been going on. It's hard to believe three weeks of school are already over. My classes are easy, and I will 100 percent finish this semester out. I'm almost, almost having as much fun here in Tuscaloosa as I think I would be having on the tournament circuit. I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to skip a week's worth of classes to go to Aruba at the end of this month for the tournament there. Aruba is the illest, but I'll have to come up with a creative excuse to tell my professors as I have two major tests in the middle of that week. If anyone has a really creative excuse, please email it to me.

My boy Zack and I have been keeping up our fitness regime. I'm really starting to drop weight and am, I think, noticeably more muscular after three weeks of lifting. It's kind of exciting and rewarding.

Gonna finish up classes this week and head to Austin, Texas where Adam Geyer lives to hang out for the weekend. As I've mentioned before, we're going to the Arkansas and UT football game this upcoming Saturday. Mike Katz will be in attendance too. I'm really, really pumped about it. I'll update again soon. Gonna watch some Monday Night Football.
