On to Day Two with 27625

I'm on to day 2 with 27625. Average is somewhere around 33000, so it's whatever. Day 1 is mostly irrelevant in main events. Celebrating or giving yourself a hard time based on your day 1 stack is kind of dumb. I'm happy with how I played, didn't force anything all day, and am ready to get back to work tomorrow.

I'll quickly share two interesting hands from today. I won't include my thought processes in them as long as I'm in the tournament, but I'll try to blog or maybe make a Cardplayer article out of it or something later.

75 minutes into the tournament a young Asian player at my starting table raised to 250 at 25/50 from the HJ. I found KdKs in the SB and raised to 900. He called. Flop Jh7h6s. I checked, he bet 1100, I called. Turn Kh. I led 2100. He threw in 4 1000 chips in, which is not enough for a legal raise. He of course had to put in 200 more chips to make it 4200. I called. River 5d. I checked and he fairly quickly bet 7400 of my final 9150 chips. I thought 3 minutes and called, and he tossed his hand facedown into the muck.

I lost a big pot in level three and was down to 9500. David Williams open limped the cutoff for 200, a fishy player on the button limped, the SB completed, and I checked A8o in the BB. Flop A87r. Checked to the button who bet 300. The SB was a nitty Asian player, and he quickly raised to 800. I cold 3bet to 2500. Folded back to fish. He threw in 500 chips, apparently having missed the fact that I'd reraised. He then threw in the 1700 more. The SB then raised to 6800. I moved in for my 9300 total or whatever. Amazingly, the fish then overcalled and saved himself 4500. The SB also called. Turn Ks for two spades now. SB moved the guy in for his last few chips, and the guy tanked (lol) and called. The SB showed 87o (his hand was pretty faceup) and the fish showed T9o for a dry OESD. The river was an Ace.

Mike and I both went to the gym this morning and are now 12/21 on the month.
