Well, I am in Las Vegas. I spent the last six days in Williamsburg, VA visiting my mom. I had a really good time. My sisters Heather and Carly were both up there too, so it was good to get all of us together. We got a chance to check out some of the historic areas of the town and I, for one, enjoyed it. I'm confident my mom will enjoy her time there. Just before I headed out I finished my spring semester at The University of Alabama. God, it feels good to be done with another semester. I now have just 34 hours of credits left before I can say I'm a college graduate. I posted a somewhat satisfying GPA of 3.33 for the semester. I made a 3.73 last semester, but it should be noted that my classes this semester were significantly harder and I spent considerably more time missing classes and playing poker (LAPC, WPT Championship, FTOPS, SCOOP) then I did last semester. One of the things that is a little unsettling is that I didn't do some of the, like, extra credit projects towards the end of the semester that could've pretty easily boosted my GPA. Obviously GPA means almost nothing considering I don't plan on using my degree. Shit, I guess GPA means almost nothing for people planning on using their degree. Still, I slept uneasy for a night or two wondering whether I should've fully extended myself to post the highest possible grades. It's hard to believe I was back in Tuscaloosa for some 9 months. The time really flew, and I expect that my final two semesters will seemingly move even faster. As I've said many times, I'm not going to wish school away too fast. I've learned a lot about myself over the time I've been back and I definitely think I can draw some positives from the experience that will help me in my poker-playing career. For one, I felt this weird sense of satisfaction throughout the WPT Championship knowing that I'd foregone so many big events while chipping away at school. I was relaxed and I think it helped. As I write this I'm hanging out with Mike, Cody and Cody's fiance Renee. Adam Geyer should be here any minute and we're gonna go get dinner. I'ma grind the FTOPS this weekend starting with the $2500 FTOPS event tomorrow. I've only played the $1k FTOPS so far this series. Monday, a dozen of us leave for a boat trip on Lake Meade. I'll blog before then. SS
