Quick January Review

Well, January has come and gone quite quickly. I ended up finishing January with 84k VPP, and will be making up for that in the future. February won't be a great month as volume goes either, because the last week of the month I'll be busy with my sisters wedding.

This month has been nice as far recovering from the total burnout that I experienced from December. My boyfriend and I have started the P90x workout program, and although it hurts (especially at first), my energy level has dramatically increased as my stress level decreases. I took it pretty easy with poker, playing 100NL and taking each Saturday off. I was doing pretty well at the tables until the last day of the month. I lost 10 buy in's. OK, seriously, being on tilt is like being drunk. You think your fine to play, but you just aren't. After reviewing my hand histories, it is pretty clear that I do get spewy/tilty after loosing over 5 buy ins, so I have officially decided: when I get to the point where I have lost 7 buy ins on a session, I am taking at least an hour break.

Also, just wanted to mention it, I'm sure plenty of people have talked about this before. I have a serious issue with the whole all in EV thing. I was talking to some friends about this the other day, and I really feel like it does more harm then good. I seriously believe that when you play worse your going to be 'more below' (it sure seems like that from my experience). Also, say you do have a time frame where your plenty below your EV line, it acts as an excuse that will let you say, 'oh, I ran so bad', instead of really trying to improve your game.

So, there is a saying that 90% of New Year's Resolutions are broken from February 1. So far I am looking pretty good, but I didn't really set out any resolutions, just goals. Nonetheless, I have been sticking to them so far. I have read 1/2 of two books, so that equals a book right? lol, I have yet to find a book that I really want to keep reading. Anyone have any good recommendations?

There is yoga with the P90X program once a week, so I'm fulfilling that goal, though I have to say- yoga is hard!

As far as poker, I have been working the hardest I have in a couple years on my game, and plan to keep that up.

Back to poker:
February VPP Goal: 66k

I am going to stick with 100NL for Febuary, and then the plan right now is to move back up to 200NL March 1. Hopefully in March I get back on pace, and then ahead of pace in April.

Goodluck!
