My final cruise postby Linda Johnson | Published: Jan 11, '14 |
This cruise will be over in the morning and I want to thank everyone for letting me share my experience! If you’ve never taken a cruise, I hope this motivates you to take one soon!
Day 7 blog: At Sea
The “fam” cruise is coming to an end and I am looking forward to the poker cruise starting tomorrow. Although I love cruising, it’s always more fun when there is a real poker room on board.
The cruise has been great. We enjoyed the ports of Falmouth and Cozumel, as well as the private island of Labadee. As mentioned earlier in my blog, we didn’t get off the ship in Grand Cayman. I have been to all these ports many times, but that just means that I know the best things to do there. Who could ever get tired of beautiful beaches and great restaurants with amazing scenic overlooks?
Today’s activities were a bit subdued because we are trying to get some rest before the group of 300 joins us tomorrow. Jan and I met with the restaurant manager and he promises expedited service for our group so we have more time for poker. We ate lunch in the restaurant for the first time this week. They have a very nice salad bar on sea days. After lunch, we went to the internet café and took care of some business. The afternoon consisted of some leisurely reading on the balcony and a tour of the ship’s bridge. It is difficult to get to see the bridge due to the need for security. Only people who have diamond plus status (180 points with Royal Caribbean) are invited and their background has to be investigated. Seven of us got cleared for the tour. We saw how the ship is steered and how the radar system works. There was a Q & A in which we found out all about what happens behind the scenes regarding running the ship.
Tonight’s activities will include dinner in the Windjammer and the farewell show. We have to get off the ship at 9:20am and we will be processed through Immigration and Customs and brought back on board. Liffe is good on the Freedom of the Seas!
For all of you joining us tomorrow – You can sign up for the Card Player Cruises tournaments and satellites the day before the event. Please sign up at least one hour in advance to be guaranteed a seat at the beginning of the tournament. If you wait until the last minute, you might be an alternate.
Also, don’t forget that not only do we have our poker cruises, but we also are a full service cruise travel agency and will be happy to help you plan any type of cruise.
