the Eureka Open

I am writing this from Mesquite, NV, home of the Eureka Open semi-annual poker tournament held at the Eureka Casino. Located an easy one-hour drive from Downtown Vegas, I have co-hosted this low-limit event with Jan Fisher every January and August for many years. It’s among my favorite events of the year as the locals are friendly, the newly renovated hotel is comfortable and convenient, the on-property restaurants are very good, and the weather is terrific! The hospitality is great and the laid back atmosphere makes for a great getaway for golfers, poker players, outdoor enthusiasts, and folks just wanting to either get out of the cold weather (think “great snowbird destination”).

There is still time to join me. You can find a complete schedule here: http://cardplayercruises.com/eureka14.html
The hotel is renovating and the new rooms are beautiful and large. Players can earn free rooms with live play of 8 hours a day and the Bravo system will keep track of your earned comps for hours played. I am off to a great start, having cashed in each of the first three events I played. The local players tend to be “chop happy,” so most events play like Survivor events and end early.

The freeroll Sunday can be entered with as little as 25 hours of live action and double hours starting at 1am. Come up and join me before it’s too late! If you miss this one, hope to see you for the summer event in August!
