Hello from Nassau!

The first three days of the poker cruise went really well. We have been playing poker in the conference room on the ship, and I hear lots of laughter and the sounds of people having fun. About 75% of our cruisers are repeaters with us so there are lots of happy reunions.

Day four of our cruise began amid plenty of sunshine and mild temperatures in Nassau, Bahamas. We just closed the cardroom to enjoy the port. Many from our group will venture out to the beautiful city while some will choose a more laid back day of staying aboard the deserted ship and enjoying the many things here. The solarium had a nice group enjoying the sun and/or shade and I even noted some disappearing to the spa for treatments. I know a few hardy souls actually ventured into and enjoyed the gym for their workouts. Port days are nice as you really have room to move and do what you want on the ship.

The cardroom spread a full eight games last night and everyone who wanted to play got a seat. Many from our group enjoyed some of the shows, including a standup comic and a Broadway Review show. The talent on this ship is as good as it gets and I’m delighted that I got to enjoy it last week so I wouldn’t have to miss the poker action this week! The food has been great and tonight I am visiting, with many of our staff, the pay Italian restaurant, Giovanni’s. Stay tuned to hear how that is. There will be 11 of us for dinner and for sure there’ll be some funny stories and good jokes.

As so many of you know, Jan and I keep a top ten list of the silliest or funniest things people say and then award them silly gifts at our going away party. We rarely have to make anything up because our customers never disappoint. Jan had some foot surgery 2 months ago and was wearing a surgical boot on day one of our journey. Espy Enriquez, frequent cruiser and great personal friend, asked Jan about it and wanting to show extra sympathy, asked her “Which foot is hurt?” Uh… Espy, it’s the one with the surgical boot!

Tomorrow we will be at the private island and most likely I’ll elect to sleep in and enjoy the boat before another full evening of poker. We’ll then have two great sea days with live and tourney poker. Can’t wait!
