The Golden State Ladies Poker Championship

I’m on my way home from the Golden State Ladies Poker Championship held at Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, California. I totally enjoyed my weekend and found it to be a great opportunity to meet many new players and to reconnect with friends whom I don’t see often.

I always like staying at Pechanga because their beds are extremely comfortable and they have a wide selection of restaurants. They also have a very comfortable, spacious cardroom and offer lots of promotions for their players. The weather in California is absolutely perfect right now, a relief from our 110+ weather in Las Vegas.

I had a great degree of success at the poker table, cashing in each of the three tournaments, including 4th place in the main event. One thing I like about the ladies tournaments are that they usually include some extracurricular activities. We had a meet and greet that featured sandwich, dessert, and wine tasting on Thursday. On Friday, Jan Fisher and I got to present a two-hour seminar on limit holdem and limit Omaha. The ladies enjoyed a breakfast and bingo session before the championship event on Saturday.

Kudos to the Pechanga staff and to Lupe Soto and the LIPS Tour staff.
Now it’s time to take a few days off from poker and enjoy a vacation.
