My life is one big vacation! I'm lovin' it!

Sorry I haven’t blogged in a while, but I just spent the past three weeks on a cruise ship, and quite frankly, I was on vacation. Well, the first week was vacation and then the second two weeks were poker cruises. The games were great and the ports were very enjoyable.

The Fall is my favorite time of year in Las Vegas. The weather is great for walks, patio dining, and sitting outside relaxing with a good book. I can’t believe I’m leaving again so soon. What really sucks is that during my 10 days home between cruises, I didn’t get to play any poker. I was too busy catching up on emails, writing columns, running errands, and spending time with friends.

I was able to go to the Wednesday Poker Discussion Group this past week. Jan Fisher and I had invited Mike Sexton to come speak to the group and he did! He mesmerized everyone for two hours. For about 30 minutes, he talked poker strategy… specifically bluffing strategy. He recounted some amazing bluff bets and raises he had witnessed on the World Poker Tour. For the next 90 minutes, he told tales from the poker world. Mike Sexton is the best speaker/story teller I know (actually he is tied with Mike Caro for being the best speaker, but no one tells stories better than Mike Sexton). He told us Stu Ungar stories as well as tales featuring other poker greats. He also talked about how he got his start in poker. No matter how many times I’ve heard Mike’s stories, they never get old and I always enjoy seeing other people engrossed in Mike’s tales. Mike is working on a book that will be part autobiography and part poker tales; I promise it will be a good read.

I’m off to New York City tomorrow for a week and then on to Boston where I will be participating in a charity tournament hosted by my dear friend Kellie Costa. It is the sixth annual tournament held in honor of her cousin Tyler who was killed in Iraq six years ago. Kellie raises money to help the USO and also is a donor to PokerGives.org. This year’s tournament is being held on Saturday, October 11 at Senho Da Padra in New Bedford, Mass. Registration is from 5-6 and dinner is included for the $60 buy-in. There are also plenty of raffle items so everyone has a good chance to win a valuable prize. If you are in the new Bedford area on Oct. 11, please come by and say hello. There is no charge to come by and enjoy the night while honoring some true American heroes. Please contact me at [email protected] if you want to attend.

The morning after the tournament, I’ll be boarding the Brilliance of the Seas for two weeks of cruising. The second week will be a poker cruise. Sorry, it is already sold out, but if you want to go on any of our other cruises, check out "Card Player Cruises ":http://www.cardplayercruises.com. With the holidays coming up, a poker cruise is one size fits all!:)

Join me on a Card Player Cruises poker cruise soon. Details at www.cardplayercruises.com..
You will have the best vacation of your life!!!
