The Online Super Series Cub3d: Has Americas Cardroom Been Juicing?
The next Online Super Series Cub3d at Americas Cardroom is basically a multi-table tournament series on steroids. In fact, its three series rolled into four weeks, guaranteeing $6.7 million in prize pools over 141 action-packed events.
Why the steroid reference you may ask? Let’s rewind to six years ago and I’ll explain.
Our first “major” tournament series came on Nov. 29, 2011. It was a six-day event, guaranteeing $150,000 with a $50,000 main event. We called it the Americas Cardroom Online Super Series (ACROSS). We’ve since shortened the acronym (to OSS), but that is the only thing that’s remotely smaller.
Now back to present day.
This Aug. 13 to Sept. 10 we’ll be hosting our third OSS Cub3d and it will “once again” be the biggest tournament extravaganza we’ve ever attempted. I say “once again” because each time we host a tournament series, we strive to either match or increase the guaranteed prize pools.
And we go big. This series will guarantee $6.7 million, that’s over $1,000,000 more than the one we held a few months ago. I know I said that already, but we’re just so dang excited that it’s worth pointing out again.
Each of the three series that make up the OSS Cub3d (Mini Online Super Series, Online Super Series, and Bigger Online Super Series) has its own main event. The MOSS features an $88 buy-in $250,000 GTD main event, the OSS has our biggest main event of the series with its $540 buy-in $1 million guarantee, and we’ll finish things off with the monster $2,100 buy-in $750,000 GTD BOSS main event.
There’s plenty of extras too. The three series share a combined leaderboard where players earn points based on where they place in each event, the number of entrants, and buy-in cost. The three players with the most points when the dust settles will each be awarded a $4,900 package to compete in October’s $500,000 GTD Punta Cana Poker Classic in the Dominican Republic.
The three leaderboard winners, along with the main event winners, will also take home engraved sterling silver bracelets commemorating their achievement (along with their stacks of cash).
Our last OSS Cub3d series awarded just under $8 million to players. With your help, we intend to shatter that record this time around.
I can’t wait to see what kind of numbers we’ll be talking about six years from now. If the trend continues, it’s an article I look forward to writing.
