Time sure flies by. Since my last blog, I have made 3 short trips to LA and one hunting trip.
LA was a break-even experience overall, with me winning a decent amount on my first trip, and then basically losing it all back over the next two trips. Happens…
I did play the $1650 at the commerce while I was there. It was pretty much a non-event. You start with 20k in tournament chips. I was down to 17k without playing a big pot when they dealt me the two kings. I was in the small blind and the blinds were 200/400 with a 50 ante. A player with 30k opened in early position to 1000. I made it 2700 and he moved in when it got back to him. I called and he held two nines. The nine that came on the river was not nearly as sweet as the one from the 2013 WSOP main event and I was out.
As for the hunting trip, it was a great time. My father-in-law and I went elk hunting on the Oregon side of the Hell’s Canyon National Recreation Area. That is both a beautiful and rough part of the country. We camped right on the Snake River and got to do a little fishing while we were there too. Although we didn’t catch any fish, we did both get an elk. I have been hunting and fishing with Stan since I was 13. This trip was his first successful elk hunt, and at 73, possibly his last chance to get one. So that made it pretty special.
As for our Limit Hold’em course, we are making good steady progress. I suspect that we will be ready to launch it in February. We are most of the way through the initial editing process and have started to send the videos out to our test audience.
We also have been working to launch a webinar series to support our 12-week challenge. The full details of this will come out next week. We are going to have 12 live Q & A sessions with Rick and me, one for each of the 12 sessions. We want everyone who enters to have an opportunity to learn as much as they possibly can. So look for the details next week, we will publish them on Facebook and Twitter. (@thepokeracad)
