Euro Poker Tweets Of The Week

This week Twitter featured a combination of comments streaming from the European Poker Tour Berlin, some breaking news, and a few funny conversations back and forth between stars of the poker world.

To set things off, let’s jump from Europe to Brazil for an important announcement. On Apr. 3, Maria “Maridu” Mayrinck tweeted, “After 5 great years with @PokerStars I’ve decided to leave the team, & will have pretty big news in about 2 weeks for all Brazil Poker!”

She then said, “I leave @PokerStars w/ nothing but the best things to say of them & am very happy w/ my decision. This will be huge for Brazilian Poker!” Tweets flooded in from friends both congratulating her and enquiring about her new project but for now Mayrinck is keeping it all under wraps.

Coming back to Europe, on April 7, Lex Veldhuis tweeted, “I’m fighting (kickboxing) Elky in Las Vegas this summer. Last week of May right before WSOP probably. This all because of a sidebet!”

He followed this up with, “About the Elky fight. I’m taking bets. I will write a more detailed blog about the bet.”

Veldhuis who has been training with expert fighters for some time now has also changed his profile picture on his Twitter to a more suitable photograph for the event. This did not escape the attention of fellow Team Pro member Daniel Negreanu.

On Apr.8, Negreanu wrote, “@RaSZi your profile pic: really dude? I guess I’m supposed to be all scared but I can’t stop laughing!” When told what the photograph was for, he said, “yes I realize that. What you really need is an Ed Hardy hoodie, more bling, and maybe a face tattoo.”

Across the pond, Doyle Brunson was also having a giggle at the expense of a fellow player, and this time, Negreanu would be at the other end of it after having tweeted about eating vegan big macs. On Apr. 5, Brunson tweeted, "@RealKidPoker You won’t live to be 50 eating that vegan crap. Yeah, Yeah I know what the health nuts say. They have a screw loose!

The EPT kicked off this week in Berlin, therefore the twitter wires were buzzing. Here is a brief look at what some of the Euros were saying:

Vladimir Geshkenbein who took down EPT Snowfest has become known to be a friend of Twitter when not a friend to his opponents. On Apr. 8, he wrote, “In the money.. busted bubble boy he’s mega tilt and was swearing in russian to me lol!” After tweeting about apparently meeting Jake Gyllenhaal in the lift of the hotel, he then got back to playing…“And busted. had top pair, flush draw and a gutshot, but opponents two pair held. still nice to cash two EPT’s in a row.. sweet 7500 Euros :)”

Ludovic Lacay did not last as long. On Apr. 5, he wrote, “EPT Berlin: out A2 vs A3 in blind battle.”

On Apr. 8, Liv Boeree was busy in one of the EPT side events, she tweeted, “Got around average 54k with 46 left. Nearly €500k prize pool for a side event is insane.”

Now that the sun is shining and the weekend’s here, let’s finish off with a light-hearted tweet from Leo Margets. On Apr. 8, she said, “Considering to ask someone to tickle me see if i can get rid of my filthy mood today…i hate me grumpy”
