Venom is returning to Americas Cardroom this October, and once again, online poker players will have a shot at a massive prize pool with the $5 million guarantee. The eventual winner of the $2,650 buy-in event will earn at least $1 million!
This edition of the Venom, however, will be played as a PKO main event, otherwise known as a progressive knock out tournament.
In a normal $10 knock out or bounty tournament, $5 would go to the prize pool and $5 would go to the bounty. Knocking out another player would result in $5 added to any prize you cash for.
In a $10 PKO tournament, $5 would go to the prize pool, and $5 goes to the bounty. However, when you knock someone out of the tournament, instead of getting the full $5, you get half that amount, or $2.50. The other $2.50 now gets added to your own bounty, making it now worth $7.50.
Should someone take you out, the process repeats itself. They’ll pocket $3.75 (half the current bounty), and the other $3.75 gets added to their head.
By the end of a tournament, a single player’s bounty could even be worth more than the remaining prize pool, creating a very exciting dynamic at the final table. Imagine what could be up for grabs in the $5 million Venom PKO!
