The 2022 Card Player Poker Tour bestbet Jacksonville $3,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em main event got underway with the first of two starting flights on Friday, Nov. 11 at noon. A total of 80 entries were made by the time registration closed on day 1A, adding $216,000 to the prize pool with even more players expected for day 1B.
Ten 60-minute levels were played on day 1A, and at the end of the night just 24 players moved on to day 2, which will resume at noon on Sunday, Nov. 13. The biggest stack at the end of day 1A belonged to Toby Boas.
The Florida resident (pictured above) bagged up 335,500. Boas has more than $1.3 million in recorded scores to his name, including a runner-up showing in the 2022 World Series of Poker $3,000 no-limit hold’em event for $345,244.
Two other players sit with with more than 300,000. Andrew Ostapchenko (344,000), and Jeremy Joseph (338,000). Ostapchenko is an accomplished live pro from California with more than $1.7 million in prior earnings. Joseph finished eighth in this event in 2021, and was the day 1A chip leader last year. He has nearly $2 million in recorded earnings, and could very well cross that benchmark with a strong showing in this event. Dustin Holaday, who finished third last year for $77,910, has the next-largest stack behind Joseph with 215,000. Denoval Wilson (206,000) rounds out the top five.
With $4,704,382 in career earnigns and two World Poker Tour main event titles, Sam Panzica is the most accomplished player to bag up a big stack. Panzica ended the day with 144,500, good for seventh on the leaderboard. Just ahead of him in the chip counts is TK Miles with 179,500. Miles has $4.6 million in career cashes to his name.
Scott Risi, who won the $1,700 buy-in ‘mystery bounty’ event last weekend for $49,762, ended the day inside the top ten (138,000).
A number of notables came out for day 1A but failed to bag up chips, including defending champion Ben Scrogins, Derek Bowers, and Sebastiaan De Jonge.
Day 1B will begin at noon on Saturday, Nov. 12. Registration will be open through the start of level 9 (at approximately 9:45 PM local time), with unlimited re-entry available throughout the registration period. Players will start with 40,000 in chips, with 60-minute blind levels to start.
The final table will be live-streamed with cards-up coverage of the action on bestbetLIVE.
