The first Bellagio Five-Star World Poker Classic preliminary event is on the books, and the winner of the $2,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em event was Mike Chow.

From the 237 entrants, a prize pool of just under $460,000 was generated. Chow took the lion’s share of almost $140,000 for first, as well as a $25,000 seat into the World Poker Tour Championship. Here were the final table payouts:

  2. Justin Newton — $95,000
  3. James Mackey — $95,000
  4. David Baker — $26,060
  5. Matt Elsby — $19,545
  6. David Markosyan — $15,200
  7. Michael Mizrachi — $10,855
  8. Travis Pearson — $8,685
  9. Bill Baxter — $6,950

Event No. 2, a $2,500 buy-in no-limit hold’em tournament, started yesterday and will conclude today. A number of pros are still in contention. The following are chip counts for the remaining players:
