The Second Flight Attracts Almost Twice as Many Players

Day 1B at the World Poker Tour Bay 101 Shooting Star event took place today in San Jose, California. There were 256 players in today’s field, which almost doubled the amount (135) that jumped into the ring yesterday. That made the total size of the field 391 players, topping the 376 that entered last year. The winner will walk away with $1,025,500, and the top 45 spots will walk away with at least $12,500. Here is a look at the total prize pool:

Isaac BaronThe race to end the day with the chip lead once again came down to the wire. This injected the usual calm that accompanies the end of a first day with a nice shot of energy. Heading into the final level Vivek Rajkumar led the way with 150,000 and he was trailed closely by Gary Tighe (147,000) and Wook Kim (140,000). At the end of the tenth level Isaac Baron jumped ahead of everyone and he held 153,700 to take home the $10,000 prize awarded to the day 1B chip leader. There were also more shooting stars in action today as well. The 27 professionals that had $5,000 bounties on their heads faired a little worse than yesterday.
