For the next six weeks, all eyes in the poker world will fall on the 40th World Series of Poker which gets starts tomorrow May 27 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas.
The 57-event Series gets underway with the first bracelet event, the $500 buy-in Casino Employees tournament at midday PST and is followed on Thursday by the new, and much hyped, $40,000 no-limit hold’em event.
This year rebuy tournaments have been banished from the Series but the controversial final table break which will deliver the “November Nine” returns after it was deemed a PR and marketing success in 2008.
The WSOP runs until July 15 with the $10,000 World Championship No-Limit Hold’em centerpiece event running from July 3 to 15.
