Canadian Poker Star to Work with Black Velvet WhiskeyCompany to Hold a Contest That Will Pit a Consumer Against Gavin Smith |

Gavin Smith, the 2005 World Poker Tour Mirage Poker Showdown champion and recent Card Player Magazine cover boy, has signed on with Black Velvet Canadian Whiskey to be their spokesman in the poker industry.
This summer, Black Velvet will be running a sweepstakes in which one of its customers will win an all-expenses-paid trip to Las Vegas to play a heads-up no-limit poker match against Smith.
It's just another example of a mainstream company using poker pros and hold'em to promote its product. A Diet Pepsi commercial featuring Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, and Scotty Nguyen is now airing and Milwaukee Best beer and Exxon Mobil are two of several companies that are holding contests to send people to the World Series of Poker's main event this summer.
Smith, who hails from Canada, is represented by Poker Royalty, a full-service poker player marketing agency specializing in all things poker. They have represented many popular players, including Carlos Mortensen, Cyndy Violette, Hellmuth, Gus Hansen, and Antonio Esfandiari.
