We came to the final day of EPT Vienna for a coronation. We very nearly got a velvet revolution.
But instead we had the first German EPT champion since season five; 20-year-old Michael Eiler transferring Sunday Million success into the live world, a transition worth €700,000 and some EPT silverware.
While all eyes were on Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu to win all sorts of accolades tonight, Eiler did what even Negreanu believed him capable of doing; play solid poker, avoiding dangerous mishaps along the way, to secure a first live title.
Eiler’s success came at the expense of another Team PokerStars Pro, Martin Hruby. The Czech Pro, who faced Eiler heads-up, so nearly won his first major title tonight, but was unable to prevent the German stealing the advantage Hruby had won in a sensational three-way all in hand that had changed the course of the tournament a few hours earlier.
That hand would result in Italian Luca Cainelli’s departure in fifth, and at the same time cripple Negreanu. Cainelli moved in with aces, Negreanu with two pairs, but Hruby topped them both with a straight.
Negreanu had led up to that point, his pre-ordained success – a Triple Crown and an ascent back to the top of the All-Time Money List at stake – was shattered, and his $13 million worth of tournament experience could do little to prevent his elimination within half an hour.
This had proved the main feature, to an undercard of three earlier eliminations. Bruno Launais, Matthias Lotze and Andreas Wiese had been on the back foot from the off, departing in eight, seventh and sixth respectively.
With Cainelli and Negreanu gone Konstantinos Nanos, who had led earlier in the week, fought on, but was first crippled by Hruby’s full house, then busted out to the Czech’s king-nine when he called all-in with queen-nine.
It’s worth paying tribute to Hruby’s performance before the fate of the runner-up is forgotten in favour of the winner.
At one stage Hruby had been reduced to just six big blinds, but mounted a remarkable comeback. Heads-up though, despite his two-to-one lead, he was unable to stop Eiler. Now the short stack, Hruby called all-in with deuces against Eiler’s ace-ten of diamonds, only for the German to flop the nuts. It was over.
So congratulations to Michael Eiler, thanks for the ride Daniel Negreanu, and you’ll get them next time Martin Hruby. That brings EPT Vienna to a close.
Final result:
1st – Michael Eiler, Germany, PokerStars qualifier, €700,000
2nd – Martin Hruby, Czech Republic, Team PokerStars Pro, €470,000

Our thanks to our foreign blogging colleagues, working in German, Dutch and Greek, but not necessarily in the language in which they were supposed to write. A last thank you to photographer Neil Stoddart, whose entourage of Sherpas, mounted on elephants, to carry his equipment, arrived earlier today ready for their overland journey across the Alps, then across the Pyrenees into Spain.
One last point to think about in the time until EPT Barcelona in three weeks time. In the four events so far this season, three of the winners; Toby Lewis, David Vamplew and Eiler, are not yet old enough to buy drinks in the United States.
With that, thanks for following our coverage from Vienna. We’ll see you in Barcelona. What it doesn’t have in schnitzel it makes up for in tapas. For now though, so long, farewell, au wiedersehn, adieu.

8.51pm: How do you find kings there?
Nanos moved all-in for 755,000 (three big blinds) and gets auto-called by Hruby.
Hruby: [qd][9h]
Nanos: [ks][kh]
The board blanked for Hruby and Nanos is up to 1.63 million. Hruby still in the lead with 10.7 million. — RD
8.47pm: Family pot
Hruby limped the button. Nanos called and Eiler checked behind. Hruby bet the [jh][ts][8h] flop and took it down unopposed. — RD
8.48pm: Three in a row for Eiler
As the title suggests he’s taken the last three pots. He shoved after Konstantinos Nanos limped from the small blind, and then open shoved from the small blind into Martin Hruby. On the third he made it 425,000 to go and everyone folded. — NW
8.45pm: Not nice for Nanos
Power poker was shown in it’s prime form when Konstantinos Nanos raised from the button to face an all-in shove from Martin Hruby in the big blind. Cue an instant fold from the man from Greece.
The next time Nanos raised from the button Hruby just flat called to see a [ah][ks][kh] flop where he check-called a 650,000 bet. The turn came [qd] and both players checked. The river came [qc] and Hruby led for a teasing 750,000 bet. Nanos thought for a while and made the call, but mucked upon seeing Hruby’s [qh][8h] for a full house.
He’s down to 1.4 million whereas Hruby extends his lead, up to 11.3 million. — MC
8.38pm: Eiler up, Hruby down
Hruby is stretching his lead and Nanos is dropping behind. Hruby was on the button and raised to 575,000 and took the blinds. In the next hand Hruby was given a walk on his big blind. Eiler then opened to 475,000 from the button and took the blinds. The next hand Hruby raised to 435,000 and Eiler moved all-in. Fold from Hruby. That’s good work from Eiler. — RD
8.35pm: Eiler wins a small one
Michael Eiler has taken the first pot of note since the level started. He raised from the button to 475,000 and Konstantinos Nanos, who has shown a propensity to defend his big blind, did so again.
On the [2h][Jd][Kc] flop Nanos checked and a 535,000 bet from Eiler won him the pot. — NW
8.30pm: Play starts
We’re under way.
8.26pm: Waiting
Still no sign of the restart, although Michael Eiler has returned to the table.
Martin Hruby – 9,440,000
Konstantinos Nanos – 4,100,000
Michael Eiler – 4,030,000
8.10pm: Down to a winner
Despite the nagging feeling that the extra large slice of Sachertorte may have been a cake too far, we’re back, ready to see this one through to the end.
Four players remain, and while Daniel Negreanu may no longer be the headline there’s still the chance of a Team Pro win, the first Greek winner and, let’s see, the first Eiler to win. — SB
7.06pm: Dinner break
That’s the end of the level. Players are now on a 75 minute dinner break. Play resumes at 8.15pm.
7.05pm: Negreanu falls in fourth place (€175,000)
Daniel Negreanu’s dream of winning an EPT, not to mention a Triple crown, have been dashed.
He moved all-in again for 1,205,000 from the button and was looked up by fellow Team PokerStars Pro Martin Hruby in the SB. Showdown:
Negreanu: [qs][8s]
Hruby: [ac][4h]
The board ran [2c][6c][jc][ah][6h]. It was all over by the turn and a gracious Negreanu shook hands with the three remaining players and left to generous applause. — MC
6.59pm: Eiler feels the fours
Eiler moved all-in from the button and was called by Hruby in the big blind.
Eiler: 4[4c]
Hruby: [ad][td]
The [6s][ks][6c] flop isn’t great for the fours and the [qd] gave even more outs. A blank [5c] on the river saw Eiler bump up to 4 million. Negreanu is still super short. — RD
6.58pm: Good, bad, ugly
The next time Daniel Negreanu was in the big blind Konstantinos Nanos raised to 250,000 from the button to face an all-in shove for 1,225,000 million from Negreanu. Nanos was dwelling over his decision and had Negreanu in his ear trying to talk him into a call, which he ended up doing. Showdown:
Negreanu: [as][td]
Nanos: [ah][4d]
Negreaanu was in great shape to double-up but it ended in a chop on a [5s][8d][8s][qd][ad] board. — MC
6.50pm: Dodgy gut
Negranu made it 240,000 from the button, Nanos called called from the big blind and Negreanu fired 300,000 into the [6c][6d][7c] flop. Nanos held on for at least one more street. Both players checked the [4d] turn then Nanos shot 680,000 into the [ts] river.
“This thing in my gut is telling me to call you,” said Negreanu as he tried to work out what Nanos held. “You bet 680,000 with nine-ten? It’s a good bet if it is. I’m going to need a minute.”
Negreanu was really putting himself through the ringer on this one . Negreanu called and Nanos showed [8s][9c] for a rivered straight. Negreanu is down to just over a million. — RD
6.42pm: Nanos using position
The action folded around to our new chip leader Hruby in the small blind who raised to 260,000 and was called by Konstantinos Nanos in the big blind.
The flop came down [3s][6s][9s] and Hruby allowed his Greek opponent to take over the initiative, check-calling a 350,000 bet to see the [5d] turn. Hruby checked once more and then folded to a 500,000 bet from Nanos. — MC
6.35pm: Incredible scenes, really
This hand was extraordinary. Luca Cainelli opened to 290,000 from the hijack and was called by Negreanu in the cut-off. Martin Hruby came along for the ride on the button.
The [8h][5h][ks] flop was good enough for Cainelli to c-bet a large 725,000. Negreanu made the call and remarkably so did Hruby. This had already grown into a huge pot but the [9s] turn would transform everything; the hand, the tournament and the fortunes of all three players.
Cainelli now moved all-in for 1,575,000 and Negreanu quickly moved all-in behind him. Hruby looked a little shocked but called all-in himself behind them.
Cainelli: [as][ad] for an over pair
Negreanu: [kd][9d] for top two pair
Hruby: [6d][7c] for the straight
Only a nine would have seen all three players get all their money there and then. With the whole room watching, either by the stage or on the screen in the press room, the [5c] fell on the river. It gave Cainelli a bigger two-pair, but Hruby’s straight held to pump him up to 10,795,000 – a collosal chip lead. Cainelli is out. Negreanu is now down to 2,600,000. — RD
6.22pm: A taste of things to come?
Thanks to the blinds the players are a lot shallower than before and this will likely mean that a lot more of the hands will be played out pre-flop. We’ve seen a lot of re-raises all-in but not too many open shoves until just now when Michael Eiler did just that.
The action folded to him on the button and he moved all-in for 1.9 million. If you’re 20 big blinds or less it’s not a bad play as it can prove hard to exploit. —MC
6.18pm: Four-bet shove
Martin Hruby opened from the button for 255,000 and Nanos three-bet from the small blind to 640,000. This is not the first time that Nanos has attacked Hruby and that may well be why the Team PokerStars Pro almost instantly poured the pressure back on Nanos by announcing all-in.
The Czech’s stack was 3,095,000 deep and he asked the big question. Nanos tank folded flashing an ace yet again. As soon as he did Hruby, normally a sphinx at the table, allowed himself a fierce fist pump. Safe to say that he didn’t want a call. — RD
6.15pm: Eiler who?
Still wondering where you’ve seen Luca Cainelli before? And who’s that Nanos chap? Read their player profiles to find out.
6.12pm: Nanos passes an ace
Eiler moved all-in under-the-gun and the action passed to Nanos in the big blind who folded [as][3s] face-up. I’m really not sure if Eiler looked happy about that pass or not. — RD
6.10pm: Blind battle
The action folded to Luca Cainelli in the SB and his completion worked this time, getting to see a cheap flop when Daniel Negreanu checked his option from the BB.
The flop came [kd][6s][jd] and both players checked to see the [ah] turn. The Italian led for 225,000 and the Canadian called to go to the [5h] river. Back to checking and Cainelli could only show [8d][9s] for nine-high. Negreanu missed his flush draw but hit a five with his [4d][5d]. — MC
6.05pm: Negreanu keeps on raising
Negreanu keeps firing and keeps showing hands. He opened to 250,000 and flashed [ac][td] after scooping the blinds. He raised again on the next hand from the cut-off and Hruby three-bet from the button to 595,000.
Negreanu quickly passed and Hruby flashed some paint. — RD
6pm: Heater
This pot was opened up by Daniel Negreanu with an under-the-gun raise to 260,000 into the BB of Luca Cainelli, who folded.
On the next hand the action folded to Cainelli in the SB and he completed, only to face a raise from Negreanu in the BB. It was a 250,000 raise but it was too much for the Italian to call.
Negreanu flashed pocket jacks and said he had ace-king the hand before. And here were we thinking he was just picking on the tightest player. On the next hand he picked up the blinds, showing a pair of nines. — MC
5.55pm: Post-break hand blast
We’re back from the break and there has been a little bit of action:
5.50pm: We play on
And we’re back for a new level. Five players remain and you can find their chip counts on the chip count page.

9.47pm: End of level
The heads up combatants are going on a15-minute break.
9.45pm: Eiler opens up two-to-one lead
Michael Eiler is up to 11.9 million after disguising the strength of his hand to get two streets of value out of Martin Hruby. He raised to 425,000 from the button and Hruby called. Critically Eiler checked behind on the [qd][4d][6h] flop.
Eiler bet 525,000 on the [2s] turn nd Hruby called. Eiler then bet a cool 1.225 million on the [4c] river after Hruby checked to him. The Team PokerStars Pro tanked for two minutes before making the call. Eiler tabled queen-ten for the pot as Hruby mucked. — MC
9.40pm: Next two to Hruby
The players are trading chips back and forth. Play has certainly tightened up a bit since the chip stacks got closer together. Hruby called Eiler’s pre-flop raise of 425,000 before both players checked the [Qh][7d][10h] flop. Hruby’s 700,000 bet on the [3s] turn was enough to make Eiler fold. — NW
9.35pm: Three-in-a-row
PokerStars qualifier Michael Eiler has won all three hands since his double-up. Both times he was on the button his raises were enough to take the win the hand. Hruby was kind enough to give him a walk in the other hand. — MC
9.31pm: Michael Eiler doubles up
Martin Hruby had moved in over the top of Michael Eiler’s button raises with some frequency and this time he got caught. Eiler made it 450,000, Hruby moved in for an effective stack of 4,950,000 and Eiler called.
Hruby: [Ac][3h]
Eiler: [As][Jd]
The board ran out [6s][Jc][2c][4h][3d] and although Hruby always had outs Eiler doubled through to seize the chip lead with 9,995,000 to Hruby’s 7,620,000. — NW
9.24pm: The magic button
The last three hands have all been won pre-flop with button raises. Two of them went to Eiler and one to Hruby. The magic amount to raise to claim these pots was 450,000. — MC
9.17pm: Eiler four-bets all-in
We’ve had the first pre-flop four bet, Michael Eiler made it 450,000, Martin Hruby then made a small three-bet to 910,000 and very swiftly Eiler moved all-in and Hruby folded. — NW
9.14pm: Hand #154
The 154th hand of this final table saw Michael Eiler raise to 450,000 from the button and Martin Hruby call in the BB. The flop came [5h][ks][2s] and both players checked through to the [kd] turn. Hruby took over the initiative with a chunky 860,000 bet that forced a reluctant fold from Eiler. — MC
9.10pm: Eiler raises it up
Martin Hruby took two pots in a row then Michael Eiler stopped the rot. He raised to 475,000 pre-flop and Hruby called. On the flop of [4s][3h][2s] Hruby led out for 310,000 but Eiler ramped it up to 1,050,000 and forced Hruby to fold. — NW
9.04pm: Eiler claws some back
Michael Eiler raised to 450,000 from the button and Martin Hruby called from the big blind to see a [8h][5c][3d] flop. Both players checked before Hruby led for 530,000 on the [8c] turn. Call. The river came [8c] and both players checked again. Eiler tabled [as][6h] and that was good for the pot and a 5.3 million stack. The man from the Czech Republic is down a little to 12.1 million. — MC
9pm: Full house good for Hruby
Team PokerStars Pro Martin Hruby has won the first chunky pot of heads up play. Michael Eiler made it 450,000 on the button and Hruby called. On the flop of [Kd][6d][6c] both players checked. To the [5h] turn where Hruby check-called a bet of 425,000, on the [6h] river both players checked and Hruby showed [Kc][8h] trapping with a full house. — NW
8.55pm: Nanos out in 3rd for €265,000
The Konstantinos Nanos comeback didn’t last much longer, he’s out. Martin Hruby was the axe-man. The action folded to Hruby in the SB and he set his opponent all-in who called off his 1.6 million stack in an attemptto get another crucial double up.
Nanos: [kh][9h]
Hruby: [qs][9s]
The board ran [kc][6c][as][th][2h] and that means we’re now heads-up. Nanos didn’t seem too upset and rushed off to embrace his family and friends including his three-year old son. — MC

— MC

10.23pm: Michael Eiler wins EPT Vienna (€700,000)
Yet again Michael Eiler open-shoved the button and after a bit of a think Martin Hruby called all-in for his last 3,900,000.
Eiler: [Ad][10d]
Hruby: [2c][2h]
Flop: [8d][Jd][Kd]
Eiler flopped the nuts. Hruby needed running deuces, eights, jacks or kings to stay alive.
Turn: [3s]
Hruby was drawing dead, but could Eiler river a royal flush?
River: [4d]
No royal flush, (odds of one in 649,740), but the 20-year-old Eiler is the winner of EPT Vienna. A large trophy and €700,000 is also his.
Hruby takes home €470,000 for his second place finish. — NW

10.12pm: Eiler sticking it to Hruby
Two of the last three hands have featured Michael Eiler moving all-in and wining the pot. In the first he shoved over Martin Hruby’s 650,000 pre-flop opener. In the second he moved all-in after Hruby had limped from the button. — NW
10.07pm: Four hands no action

9.47pm: End of level
The heads-up combatants are going on a15 minute break.
9.45pm: Eiler opens up two-to-one lead
Michael Eiler is up to 11.9 million after disguising the strength of his hand to get two streets of value out of Martin Hruby. He raised to 425,000 from the button and Hruby called. Critically, Eiler checked behind on the [qd][4d][6h] flop.
Eiler bet 525,000 on the [2s] turn and Hruby called. Eiler then bet a cool 1,225,000 on the [4c] river after Hruby checked to him.
Both times he was on the button his raises were enough to take the hand. Hruby was kind enough to give him a walk in the other. — MC
9.31pm: Michael Eiler doubles-up
Martin Hruby had moved in over the top of Michael Eiler’s button raises with some frequency, but this time he got caught. Eiler made it 450,000, Hruby moved in for an effective stack of 4,950,000 and Eiler called.
Hruby: [Ac][3h]
Eiler: [As][Jd]
The board ran out [6s][Jc][2c][4h][3d]. Although Hruby always had outs Eiler doubled through to seize the chip lead with 9,995,000. Hruby doen to 7,620,000. — NW
9.24pm: The magic button
The last three hands have all been won pre-flop with button raises. Two of them went to Eiler and one to Hruby. The magic amount to raise to claim these pots was 450,000. — MC
9.17pm: Eiler four-bets all-in
We’ve had the first pre-flop four bet. Michael Eiler made it 450,000, Martin Hruby then made a small three-bet to 910,000 and very swiftly Eiler moved all-in. Hruby folded. — NW
9.14pm: Hand #154
In the 154th hand the final Michael Eiler raise to 450,000 from the button and Martin Hruby called in the BB.
On the flop of [4s][3h][2s] Hruby led out for 310,000 but Eiler ramped it up to 1,050,000, forcing Hruby to fold. — NW
9.04pm: Eiler claws some back
Michael Eiler raised to 450,000 from the button and Martin Hruby called from the big blind. The flop came [8h][5c][3d]. Both players checked before Hruby led for 530,000 on the [8c] turn. Call.
The river came [8c] and both players checked again. Eiler tabled [as][6h], good for the pot and a 5.3 million stack. The man from the Czech Republic is down a little to 12.1 million. — MC
9pm: Full house good for Hruby
Team PokerStars Pro Martin Hruby has won the first good-sized pot of heads-up play.
Michael Eiler made it 450,000 on the button and Hruby called. On the flop of [Kd][6d][6c] both players checked. To the [5h] turn where Hruby check-called a bet of 425,000. On the [6h] river both players checked and Hruby showed [Kc][8h], trapping with a full house.
Hruby: [kh][9h]
Nanos: [qs][9s]
The board ran [kc][6c][as][th][2h] and that means we’re now heads-up. Nanos didn’t seem too upset and rushed off to embrace his family and friends including his three-year old son. — MC

5.29pm: Break time
Another period of inactivity brings the level to an end. Players are now taking a 15 minute break. When they return, for what will be the last level before the dinner break, blinds will be 60,000-120,000 with a 15,000 ante. — SB
5.18pm: “This is quite an important pot”
So says EPT winner Jake Cody in the commentary box and he’s not wrong. Nanos opened to 250,000 and was called by Cainelli on the button. Negreanu squeezed to 650,000 from the small blind and Cainelli made the call.
Negreanu fired a large 750,000 bet into the [qd][9h][3d] flop and Cainelli passed. The Team PokerStars Pro claimed to have had kings. — RD
5.15pm: The details

5.10pm: Michael muscles Nanos off pot
Michael Eiler’s stack is now around the 20 big blind mark, an amount commonly accepted to be a useful stack to three-bet shove with. And what do you know, that’s exactly what he did.
Konstantinos Nanos made it 250,000 from the button and Eiler moved in for 2,020,000 total. Nanos grimaced and passed. — NW
5.03pm: Hruby’s never-say-die attitude
Hruby continues to fight a rearguard action with raises and shoves. Two 215,000 bets have stolen the blinds. If Hruby makes it to the final three he’ll have played one of the best short stack games in poker history.
He’s just taken a pot away from Eiler after defending his big blind. He’s up to 2.1 million now. Fair play, Mr Hruby. — RD
5.04pm: Negeranu raise-folds
Negreanu raised from the cut-off to 220,000 and Eiler moved all-in for 2,170,000 from the big blind. Negreanu did some finger arithmetic and passed. — RD
4.59pm: Nanos goes to hollywood
Konstantinos Nanos should probably stick to the day job (poker player) acting is, it seems, not his strong point.
He and Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu got involved in a big pot, his acting on the river picked up by the EPT Live commentary team of Nick Wealthall and Jake Cody.
The hand started with Nanos raising to 260,000 from early position and Negreanu defending his big blind. On a flop of [6d][Ac][5h] Negreanu check-called a bet of 280,000. Hruby moves all-in for 610,000 and takes the pot. He’s creeping up but is still relatively short on 765,000. — RD
2.35pm: Play restarts
Nanos is the current chip leader with 4,185,000. Daniel Negreanu has 3,820,000. — SB

12.52pm: Hidden bullets knock out Bruno
Bruno Launis opened to 115,000 and Luca Cainelli made the call from middle position picking up a call from Negreanu as well. Konstantinos Nanos sat and studied for some time in the big blind before passing.
Launis kept up his aggression by betting 175,000 into the [8h][2h][jc] flop. Cainelli quickly counted out chips but took his time making the raise to 550,000. Negreanu passed and Launais announced all-in. Cainelli made the call, tabling [ac][as] to Launis’ [ad][jh], putting the Frenchman at risk in the 3.2 million pot.
A [5c] on the turn and the [2c] on the river bounced Launis out in 8th place. — RD
12.49pm: Eiler and Negreanu tangle again
Eiler raised to 115,000 and was called by Negreanu in the hijack. Eiler kept the betting lead with a 155,000 bet into the [qh][7c][3h] flop. Negreanu passed. Eiler’s chipping up nicely to 3,235,000. — RD
12.46pm: Hat-trick for Eiler
Michael Eiler has taken the third pot and this one was significantly more interesting than the previous two.
He made it 110,000 to play from the hijack and was called by Dainel Negreanu from the small blind and Matthias Lotze from the big blind.
On the flop of [As][6d][7s] action was checked to the raiser and Eiler bet 180,000. Negreanu looked interested but passed, however, Lotze made the call.
The [8c] turn checked through and both players saw the [7d] hit the river. Lotze, led for 225,000, but he folded after Eiler raised to 625,000. Lotze is now down to 675,000, Eiler up to 3,200,000. — NW

12.30pm: And we’re off
The first hand has been dealt and it involved Daniel Negreanu. Okay, it didn’t. Negreanu passed under-the-gun. There was just one big blind (as Morten Erlandsen was knocked out in that spot last night). Michael Eiler raised to 110,000 and he took the pot down. — RD

12.15pm: Halloween
It’s Halloween today (google for correct spelling) and several people have arrived in what is best described as fancy dress. Although judging from what some players were wearing yesterday, they’d got the dates wrong. — SB
12noon: Start time
Well the official start time has passed and we’re not close to starting just yet. Last minute wiring, etc. still to be carried out. — SB
11.40am: What time is it?
Another big question this morning is who will arrive on time? Clocks went back an hour over night for daylight saving. I personally saw clocks giving three different times this morning. — SB
11.20am: The final table
Welcome back to the final table of EPT Vienna. As you’re probably already aware Daniel Negreanu leads with eight players remaining and is on course for what could be a memorable victory. Not only is there EPT silverware up for grabs for the Team PokerStars Pro, but should he take this one down he will become only the third winner of poker’s Triple Crown (WPT, WSOP and EPT titles), but will go straight back to the top of the All Time Money List
It should be a thriller and you can find profiles of each finalists right here, chip counts here, and the details of who has already won what here..

2.19pm: End of the level
That’s the end of the level. Players are now on a 15 minute break.
2.18pm: Nanos takes another one
Lotze opened to 140,000 and was called by Nanos in the small blind who checked the [9h][4d][6d] flop.
The young German bet 160,000 and Nanos made the call. Nanos checked the [9c] turn over to Lotze who, after some consideration, checked behind. The [5s] river was enough for Nanos to bet 415,000. Lotze was left in a tough spot but eventually passed leaving Nanos to rake in another tasty pot. — RD
2.16pm: Matthias Lotze doubles up
Michael Eiler, who had been quiet for the past couple of orbits, raised to 150,000 from under-the-gun. The action was folded to Matthias Lotze who moved all-in from the button for 625,000. Once the blinds had folded Eiler made the call:
Eiler: [Kc][Kh]
Lotze: [Ah][Qs]
The board of [5s][10s][7h][As][Jc] saw Lotze double up to 1,365,000 and Eiler slip to 2,640,000. —Â NW
2.12pm: 40 hands in
As the title may have indicated we are now 40 hands into this final table and Martin Hruby has moved all-in for, I believe, the third time. His shoved from the small blind, getting past Konstantinos Nanos to chip up to 620,000. — RD
2.06pm: Hruby all-in again
Martin Hruby gets his final 475,000 into the middle and somehow guides it all the way through, with Lotze passing in the big blind. Very important shove for the Czech Team PokerStars Pro. — RD
2.03 pm: Nanos pushing his lead
Nanos opened one pot to 180,000 and stole the blinds. Then he three-bet Andreas Wiese’s 155,000 cut-off raise, using his button well, to increase his chip lead. — RD
2pm: Hruby wakes up
Martin Hruby had not played a single hand at the final table, until now. He was down to just 400,000 and moved all-in from the small blind. Konstantinos Nanos, in the big blind, must have had a real stinker of a hand as he laid it down, and Hruby collected some much needed chips. — NW
1.59pm: Lotze now short on chips
Matthias Lotze is back to a one move stack after losing a pot to Andreas Wiese. Lotze raised to 155,000 from the small blind and Wiese called from the big. On the flop of [4s][Jh][10c] Lotze c-bet 155,000 and Wiese called. The turn was the [4c] and with a pot size bet left Lotze check-folding to Wiese’s bet of 240,000. — NW
1.58pm: Kings!
Konstantinos Nanos raised from under-the-gun to 150,000 and Andreas Wiese three-bet to 450,000 from the small blind. Nanos passed and Wiese showed pocket kings. — RD
1.50pm: Limping fun
Negreanu limped the small blind and Lotze checked behind. The [7c][4c][6s] flop was bet by the Canadian, which was enough to take the pot down. — RD
1.46pm: Lotze scores a small but important pot
Lotze opened to 120,000 from early position and was called by Luca Cainelli in the big blind. The [6s][6d][7c] flop was checked by the Italian to Lotze who bet 150,000 to take the pot.
It’s a great result for Lotze who really needs these chips. He’s now up to around 1.1 million. Hruby is on 485,000 and is in real trouble. — RD
1.45pm: Chips chips
Nanos is the current chip leader with €3,780,000. All the latest chip counts can be found on the chip count page.
1.42pm: Wiese takes another one
Andreas Wiese didn’t waste any time in putting his new found chip stack to use. Daniel Negreanu made it 135,000 to play and was flat called by Wiese on the button and big blind Michael Eiler came along too. The flop fell [6s][Kc][6c] and after checks from Eiler and Negreanu, Wiese bet 225,000 to take it down, he’s now up to 1,700,000. — NW
1.38pm: Negreanu doubles up Wiese
Negreanu raised to 120,000 and Andreas Wiese moved all-in for just over 600,000. Negreanu quickly called.
Wiese: [qh][qc]
Negreanu: [td][tc]
The flop gifted the pot to Wiese with a set on the [ad][7c][qd][kh][4d] board (despite the gutshoht sweat on the turn).
The pot pushed Wiese up to 1,395,000, leaving Team PokerStars Pro Martin Hruby in trouble as the shortest stack. — RD
1.36pm: Trappy Daniel
In the previous orbit Daniel Negreanu had limped from the small blind and folded when Matthias Lotze moved all-in from the big blind. Negreanu limped again the next time he was small blind, and this time Lotze checked.
The two of them checked it all the way to the river where Negreanu bet 75,000. Lotze folded. Negreanu offered to shoe Lotze one card and turned over an ace. The other card was a king. – NW
1.31pm: Three-bets and folds
Nanos opened from the hijack to 150,000 and Negreanu defended his big blind with a three-bet to 425,000. Nanos responded by folding (after a good 30 seconds). Negreanu said: “No pair,” but claimed to have ace-king. — RD
1.30pm: Brito beats Hollink in EPT Vienna €10,000 Event
Fernando Brito from Portugal has beaten EPT1 Grand Final winner Rob Hollink to win the EPT Vienna €10,000 event, earning a first prize of €90,000. Hollink received €50,000 for second place.
Brito has enjoyed a phenomenal start to the new EPT Season. He came sixth in the EPT London Main Event just a few weeks ago (£145,000) and currently leads the race for Player of the Year.
Brito, a businessman who lives in Brazil, also won the penultimate event of the EPT London festival, besting a 72-strong field in the No-Limit Turbo Randomized Bounty tournament, picking up another £16,760. He also came second in the same event at EPT Vilamoura.
“I have only been playing poker 18 months but I have always been someone who, when I do something, I want to win,” said the 51-year-old father-of-four. “I’m the same whether it’s business or whether it’s poker.”
The EPT Vienna €10,000 event boasted some big names, including Team PokerStars Pros Dario Minieri and Nacho Barbero. Also playing were
Fabian Quoss, Tobias Reinkemeier, Martin Jacobson, who finished runner-up at EPT Vilamoura and Czech EPT side event champ Martin Kabrhel. — Mad Harper
1.26pm: Not scared
Michael Eiler is certainly not afraid to take on anyone and that includes chip leader Daniel Negreanu.
The Team PokerStars Pro made it 135,000 to go from the hijack and from the big blind Eiler made the call. The flop of [10d][Qh][Kh] looked like it might create action but both players checked.
The turn was the [3s] and once Eiler had checked Negreanu bet 200,000. Eiler called. The river was the [Kd] and it was back to the flop tactics as both players checked.
Negreanu showed a three, but Eiler’s [10s][9h] was good enough to win the pot. — NW
1.21pm: Lotze takes his chance to get it in
Negreanu raised to 135,000 and Lotze picked this as a good spot (or good hand) to three-bet shove for 820,000. Negreanu passed. — RD
1.19pm: Wiese announces all-in
Short stack Andreas Wiese moved all-in from the small blind into Martin Hruby for 525,000. Hruby passed flashing a low red card. — RD
1.16pm: A tale of two chipstacks
The players are split into two distinct groups at the moment. There are three shortstacks with around 12 big blinds or less, and then four bigger stacks.
Of the shorter stacks it’s definitely Matthias Lotze who is the most active. He’s moved all-in once and got no callers, and after Daniel Negreanu limped from the small blind, he moved all-in from the from the big blind, forcing a fold from Negreanu.
With seventh earning €76,000 and fifth €140,000 there are some big money jumps to consider. —NW
1.12pm: Calm after the storm
Action has slowed since Bruno Launais’ exit, none of the last four hands have made it to the flop. Michael Lotze moved all-in for 645,000 and got no callers. The next three pots went to Konstantinos Nanos uncontested. — NW
1.08pm: Negreanu takes a couple down
Every pre-flop pot is worth 125,000 now and Negreanu scooped one by shoving his button into short stacks Matthis Lotze and Andreas Wiese.
Konstantinos Nanos took one with an under-the-gun raise. Those two then clashed when Negreanu raised to 135k and Nanos called in the big blind. The Greek checked the [kd][jd][3d] flop and Negreanu bet 185,000. Nanos played with his chips for a short while before settling on the decision marked ‘fold.’
Negreanu claimed to have had the nuts. — RD
12.56pm: End of the level
No break but the blinds are up now to 30,000-60,000 with a 5,000 ante.
12.52pm: Hidden bullets knock out Bruno
Bruno Launis opened to 115,000 and Luca Cainelli made the call from middle position picking up a call from Negreanu as well. Konstantinos Nanos sat and studied for some time in the big blind before passing.

— RD
