Real Poker: It’s Been A Great Ride, Thank You All!by Roy Cooke | Published: Nov 20, 2019 |

It is with a heavy heart, that after 30 years, I will be leaving Card Player Magazine as a regular columnist. It’s been an amazing experience, and my memories associated with Card Player are very happy ones. I’ve learned so much, met many extraordinarily interesting people, created some great friendships, and it’s taken my life to many sensational places.
I’d like to thank all my readers who made the column the success it was. I’ve tried to provide you with whatever wisdom my years around poker has afforded me, with the hope that it has enriched your life in some small way.
I’d like to give special thanks to Linda Johnson, who gave me opportunities when I had nothing and nobody, and also to the Shulman family for keeping me around for so long. Also, I’d like to thank John Bond and Alan Schoonmaker, who patiently edited my copy. (Well, in John’s case, maybe not always so patiently.)
I’ll still be spending time at the Las Vegas poker tables, so we can still check-raise each other and tell poker stories. Additionally, I’m still involved in Las Vegas Real Estate as a licensed Broker/Salesman, and I still plan to write an occasional guest column. I know I’ll miss writing and the connection with new friends that it produced. I hope some of you will maintain contact with me; I’m available on Facebook or at [email protected].
Once again, thank you all so much for all your kind words and support over the years. It’s my hope that you both enjoyed my writings and learned some things that improved your life!
I want you all to have a great holiday season, take good care of your friends and family, and play well.
Warm wishes and the best of luck to you all! ♠
