Canada has proven to be one of the great poker-playing nations of the world, with several of the top tournament players in history hailing from the Great White North. Only 22 players have managed to cash for more than $30 million on the circuit during their careers, and four of them are Canadian.
Atop the pile is Hall of Famer Daniel Negreanu, who is one of five players on the planet with more than $50 million in recorded cashes and was the former no. 1 overall for quite some time. The six-time bracelet winner and two-time WPT champion has accrued $50.6 million across 461 in-the-money finishes, with 43 titles along the way. His largest score was a runner-up finish in the 2014 Big One For One Drop for nearly $8.3 million.
Timothy Adams, who hails from Burlington, Ontario, has nearly $39.6 million in lifetime earnings to his name. The bracelet winner has eight seven-figure tournament scores on his résumé, including three multi-million-dollar paydays. His largest was a win in this year’s $125,000 Triton London main event for nearly $4.2 million.
Toronto native Sam Greenwood has more than $35.5 million in career cashes. His two largest scores ever were both earned in 2023. The bracelet winner took down the $250,000 high roller at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in early February for $3.3 million, and a $100,000 event at the Triton Cyprus stop in May for another $1.9 million.
Daniel Dvoress is the fourth and final Canadian with earnings in excess of $30 million. The two-time bracelet winner from Mississauga only recently surpassed that mark thanks to several big scores around Europe, including wins at both the Triton Monte Carlo and WSOP Europe festivals. ♠
