Borgata Here I Come and GO GATORSby Roy Winston | Published: Jan 10, '09 |
I have had a very hectic 2009 so far. After a quiet New Year's Eve dinner and a couple of family days, it was back to Vegas to film a talk show then a quick drive across the Mojave Desert to Palm Springs. The good news is that the Florida Gators did not disappoint and brought home the national championship. I almost want to go back to Gainesville and replay my years there, but I guess you can never go back. Anyway, I am in the process of moving out of the Palm Springs area and will be spending the majority of my time between NY and Vegas/LA. I finally packed up my tings there and sent some to Vegas and the rest to NY City. I have been living in Vegas for more than a year but still had a lot of stuff in CA. I am right now sitting in LAX about to get on the red eye to NY. I am headed to Borgata, and am excited to be getting back to poker.
I have been playing quite a bit on Full Tilt, and have been having some success in both tournaments and cash games, but I am excited to play some live tournaments as well. This will be an interesting series at the Borgata. This series would have in previous years culminated in the WPT televised event, but instead will finish with a large field $3,000 buy in event. The event will have a similar structure as the WPT $10,000 event, but should draw a large field with the 2 million dollar guarantee. I am hopeful that the Borgata's forward thinking will be a huge success. I will go on record here and predict a field above the 700 player mark. The Borgata's tournament staff, headed up by Tab, always provides a great value with some of the best structures, combined with one of the best rooms to play in.
Unfortunately we were not able to get Guppy Poker ready to go this month, and will have to schedule it for later in the year, I will keep you updated.
