Best Poker Apps Reviews: Our Top 5

Watch our expert review covering five of the best poker apps for Android below.

But that’s not all.

In addition to the poker apps recommended in the video, I’ve taken into account my own time grinding games on iOS poker apps to put together a list of five real money poker apps which I personally recommend. Crucially, these are available on both Android and iOS.

1. CoinPoker – Best Poker App for Crypto

  • Poker network: Independent
  • License: Curaçao eGaming
  • Payments accepted: BTC, ETH, USDT, BNB, POL, CHP

CoinPoker is, in my opinion, the best poker app in the world right now, and not just because it offers 33% rakeback. I’ll go into more detail later, but CoinPoker is my number one because it utilizes cutting-edge blockchain technology.

When playing on the CoinPoker mobile app, you can make same-day withdrawals via crypto. It’s also great for anonymous payments, as your digital wallet isn’t linked to your real name or address.

If you’re an Omaha player, you’ll definitely want to try playing on the CoinPoker mobile app. This site is known for always having action at cash game Omaha tables – even at the nosebleed stakes.

Feature Ratings

  • Poker games variety: 9/10
  • Poker tournaments: 8/10
  • Traffic and player base: 8/10
  • App software quality: 10/10
  • Mobile bonuses: 10/10
  • Appearance on mobile: 9/10
  • Multi-tabling: 8/10

2. Ignition – Best Poker App for Amateurs

  • Poker network: PaiWangLuo Poker
  • License: Curaçao eGaming
  • Payments accepted: Fiat and crypto, including MatchPay, Visa, and BTC

If you want soft games and the flexibility of being able to play instantly on any mobile device, Ignition is ideal. Even though this operator doesn’t have a native iOS or Android app, it’s still a top-tier mobile platform, as I’ll explain later.

When you play Ignition through your mobile, you’ll get access to soft games immediately. This is because many of their players are casino gamers first and poker players second. Some of your opponents might not even fully understand the rules.

This level of inexperienced player traffic is reason enough to try Ignition from your phone.

Feature Ratings

  • Poker games variety: 9/10
  • Poker tournaments: 9/10
  • Traffic and player base: 10/10
  • App software quality: 8/10
  • Mobile bonuses: 8/10
  • Appearance on mobile: 8/10
  • Multi-tabling: 10/10

3. ACR Poker – Best Poker App for Million-Dollar MTTs

  • Poker network: Winning Poker Network
  • License: Costa Rica
  • Payments accepted: Fiat and crypto, including credit card, Luxon, and BTC

There’s no better place to play poker tournaments than ACR. With over $10 million in weekly guarantees and the $20 million+ Venom series, this free poker app offers the biggest payouts.

Admittedly, it’s not ideal to play a tournament which can last hours or even days from a small mobile screen. But it can come in handy if you need to move from one place to another during a massive tourney, or if you have any issues with the desktop client.

ACR only launched their iOS online poker app for real money at the end of 2024 and immediately ran a mobile-only promotion, so it’s worth keeping tabs on the latest mobile bonuses.

Feature Ratings

  • Poker games variety: 9/10
  • Poker tournaments: 10/10
  • Traffic and player base: 10/10
  • App software quality: 8/10
  • Mobile bonuses: 8/10
  • Appearance on mobile: 8/10
  • Multi-tabling: 8/10

4. Black Chip Poker – Best Poker App Mobile Software

  • Poker network: Winning Poker Network
  • License: Costa Rica
  • Payments accepted: Fiat and Crypto, including Visa, P2P, and BTC

Alongside ACR, Black Chip benefits from the Winning Poker Network’s world-class tournament schedule. It also brings some unique qualities to the party, as you’ll discover later on in this mobile poker app guide.

My personal preference means Black Chip Poker has the edge over ACR when it comes to the look and feel of the software. It’s subjective, so it makes sense for you to download both, compare them, and see which one works better for you.

Its mobile product is continually receiving updates and improving every few weeks or months. So, if you tried it a long time ago and weren’t a fan, it might be time to give it another spin.

Feature Ratings

  • Poker games variety: 9/10
  • Poker tournaments: 10/10
  • Traffic and player base: 10/10
  • App software quality: 8/10
  • Mobile bonuses: 8/10
  • Appearance on mobile: 9/10
  • Multi-tabling: 8/10

5. BetOnline – Best Poker App for Reliability and Safety

  • Poker network: Chico
  • License: Panama Gaming Commission
  • Payments accepted: Fiat and crypto, including bank transfer, Visa, and BTC

With a sportsbook, casino, and poker app, the BetOnline mobile app attracts inexperienced players which creates soft games, making it perfect for low stakes wins.

Chances are, when you’re playing on mobile, it’s likely you’re playing either a low-stakes cash game or fast-paced tournament. Both of these work perfectly with a soft player pool, making the BetOnline poker app a no-brainer.

It’s also a fun way to try out new types of poker, like Six-Plus Hold’em.

Feature Ratings

  • Poker games variety: 8/10
  • Poker tournaments: 8/10
  • Traffic and player base: 9/10
  • App software quality: 9/10
  • Mobile bonuses: 8/10
  • Appearance on mobile: 9/10
  • Multi-tabling: 9/10

Learn More About the Best Poker Apps for iOS and Android

That’s a snapshot of the best mobile poker apps for iOS and Android. There’s a lot more to say, so stick around because I’ll go into more detail later.

Before you get to my first-hand poker app reviews, let’s get into specifics of anteing up on mobile devices.

Poker App Bonuses

The best poker apps have the best bonuses. So, if you want to offset negative variance and extract maximum value from poker apps where you can win real money, look out for these offers:

  • Sign-up bonus: Sign-up bonuses (a.k.a. welcome bonuses) give you free credits and tournament tickets when you create a new account and/or make an initial deposit.
  • Reload bonus: You can get bonus credits by adding funds to your account using poker app promo codes and offers.
  • No deposit bonus: You can get bonus credits and tournament tickets without making deposits. These rewards are typically distributed via VIP loyalty programs.
  • Tournament tickets: The best poker apps for real money tournaments give you free tickets. BetOnline is one of the leading poker apps for free tournament tickets.
  • Refer-a-friend: Encourage people to download your favorite poker app on iPhone or Android using a special link and you’ll both earn rewards.
  • Rakeback: You can get rebates when you play poker online with a real money app such as CoinPoker. These rebates are paid in cash and based on the amount of rake you generate in a given period of time.

Wagering Requirements

Even the best poker bonuses have wagering requirements. These are the terms and conditions that govern how rewards are released and credited to your account.

The only way to successfully claim poker app bonuses is to abide by these terms and conditions. So, to ensure you don’t miss out on the latest offers, here are the wagering requirements you need to know:

  • The minimum deposit
  • Whether or not you need a promo code
  • Eligibility (e.g. check if it applies to new or existing customers)
  • Playing period or expiration date
  • Playthrough (the amount of rake you need to generate to release bonus funds)

Game Types on Online Poker Apps

You now know where to find the best online poker apps for real-money gaming. But which type of poker is best on the apps?

My recommended real money poker apps primarily offer Hold’em and Omaha games, but there are some other interesting options, too.

Texas Hold’em

Texas Hold’em is the main version of mobile poker. The combination of hole cards, community cards, and betting formats creates a unique dynamic that creates a freedom you don’t get in other variants.

Hold’em – and particularly No Limit – is used for the biggest poker tournaments in the world. If you aspire to win a tournament like the WSOP Main Event, you need to learn how to play Hold’em, which is something you can do right here at CardPlayer.com.

The best Texas Hold’em app is Ignition.

6+ Hold’em

6+ Hold’em is an action-packed spinoff favored by high-stakes cash game pros. There’s more action in this Hold’em variant because all cards worth less than six have been removed.

This makes it harder to hit flushes than full houses and, therefore, switches their rankings. Additionally, aces are capable of completing all straights, so you’ve got more ways to make premium hands.

Omaha

Omaha is an action-packed poker variant because you get four hole cards instead of two, and you must use precisely two of your four hole cards. It’s usually played in a pot limit format, so bets and raises are limited to the amount of money in the pot, which means you’ll see more flops. Having more possible hand combinations and being forced to play across multiple streets makes Omaha a game where hand selection is crucial.

The best poker app for Omaha is CoinPoker.

Five-Card Omaha

This spinoff adds a fifth hole card to the mix. As before, you must use two of your five hole cards to make a ranked hand. An extra hole card gives you more opportunities to make hands, which, in turn, creates more action.

Omaha Hi/Lo

This Omaha variant awards half the pot to the best high-value hand and half to the best low-value hand. High-value hands are based on the standard poker hand rankings. Low-value hands are ranked according to their highest card, with flushes and straights being ignored. Therefore, the best low-value hand is 5-4-3-2-A.

Seven-Card Stud

You don’t always need community cards to make ranked hands in poker. Seven-Card Stud is a non-community card poker variant, which means you’re dealt all of your cards.

Four cards are dealt face-up and three face-down. Your job as a Stud player is to make reads based on your cards and the face-up cards you can see. Add a player’s betting patterns to the mix and you stand a good chance of making +EV decisions in Seven-Card Stud.

The best poker app for Stud games is ACR Poker.

Other Poker Variants

Unfortunately, none of my recommended poker apps where you can win real money offer the following variants:

  • Razz
  • Mixed Games (e.g., H.O.R.S.E.)
  • 2-7 Triple Draw
  • Five-Card Draw
  • Badugi

Despite not being available on my top-rated apps, it’s worth mentioning the above variants because you might want to spread your wings and see what the live poker scene has to offer after honing your skills online.

iOS vs Android Poker Apps

Are there any differences between poker apps on Android and iPhone? In general, no. Everything you can do on an Android, you can do on an iPhone.

The only issue you might run into is that some operators only offer a real money poker app for iPhone and not Android or vice versa. Indeed, this used to be the case with ACR Poker and Black Chip.

Up until December 2024, these operators only offered an Android online poker app. That meant iPhone and iPad users were forced to use an optimized mobile site.

Fortunately, they both now offer an iOS poker app, but this example shows that there can be times when options for one operating system can be lacking.

Multi-Tabling on Poker Apps

Your only goal in poker is to make correct decisions. The more you do this, the better your chances of winning.

Even so, the right moves can yield the wrong results and vice versa. That’s why it’s important to remain consistent and make as many correct moves as possible, regardless of the results. The best way to do this is by playing multiple tables at once.

This is a skill which requires experience, and you have to stay within your bankroll. But, if you increase the number of hands you correctly play per hour, you improve your chances of overcoming negative variance and, hopefully, making a profit.

Mobile poker apps aren’t the ideal medium for multi-tabling. Personally, I prefer to use my laptop when I want to play a variety of games. Despite this, the best poker apps for mobiles do allow you to multi-table.

Here are three top tips for playing multiple tables via a real-money poker app:

  • Make use of quick-bet buttons whenever possible
  • Don’t play more than four tables at once
  • Take a split second to double-check your move before tapping

Pros and Cons of Poker Apps

I highly recommend using free poker apps to win real money, but that doesn’t mean they’re the only option. Mobile sites and desktop apps not only have their own strengths but address the weaknesses of apps.

Poker App Pros

  • You’ve always got instant access to games
  • The best poker apps have mobile-only bonuses
  • Real money poker apps have extra security features
  • Apps are tactile and, therefore, engaging
  • Poker apps can link directly to mobile banking apps

Poker App Cons

  • Can have connection issues when not on Wi-Fi
  • Multi-tabling isn’t easy on a small screen

Best Poker Apps vs Poker on Desktop

As much as I enjoy app poker games, desktop computers (laptops specifically) remain my main gateway to the tables. That’s mainly because mobile poker apps weren’t commonplace when I started playing circa 2010.

That being said, desktop poker apps have some advantages over their mobile counterparts. The table below provides an overview of how these two types of poker apps compare and when they’re best used.

Feature Mobile Poker Apps Desktop Poker Apps Expert Tip
Game Selection The best poker apps offer a full selection of tournaments and cash games. You have access to a full line-up of games. Choose the poker app that’s suitable at the time.
Promotions Operators sometimes offer poker-app-specific bonuses. Desktop poker apps give you access to the vast majority of promos an operator is running. Claim offers via your desktop and use mobile poker apps to increase the rate at which you release bonuses.
Payments Mobile poker apps can link directly to mobile payment apps. Desktop poker apps benefit from always being connected to the internet through secure Wi-Fi networks. Both apps are safe, but mobile apps are slightly more efficient if you’re making eWallet or crypto payments.
Multi-Tabling Smaller table controls and screen size can make multi-tabling slightly harder on mobile. A desktop poker app gives you the chance to play multiple tables easily by using extra monitors. Use a desktop computer if you want to play multiple tables at once.
Reliability and Speed Real cash poker apps are reliable but can have slower loading times on mobile connections rather than Wi-Fi. Desktop poker apps benefit from SSL encryption and fast Wi-Fi connections. Desktop apps are best if you want consistent speed, but mobile poker apps are better when you want instant access to games.
Tools Switching between third-party strategy tools can be cumbersome on mobile. You can run strategy tools and your favorite poker app simultaneously on desktop devices. Do the majority of your learning by running strategy poker apps on your desktop, but use your mobile to read up on poker in your free time.

User Experience at the Best Poker Apps

Next, I’ll give you my personal insights into why the brands I’ve reviewed are the best poker apps you can download based on first-hand experience.

CoinPoker

I’ve said a lot about CoinPoker in other reviews because, quite simply, I think it’s one of the best real money online poker sites right now. This carries over to the mobile arena for a few reasons.

CoinPoker is a decentralized crypto poker site with RNG which is based on a blockchain, meaning anyone can verify the result of every hand. It also means you can make instant and anonymous deposits and withdrawals. Because it’s a crypto-only platform, you’ll have to be familiar with how to use Bitcoin et al.

Assuming you are, the real benefit of downloading the CoinPoker poker app on iPhone or Android reveals itself when you make deposits and withdrawals. CoinPoker links directly to your crypto wallet, so you can simply copy, paste, and complete transfers.

This streamlines what’s an otherwise cumbersome process. Crypto payments will become easier over time. However, until technology evolves, I prefer making transfers via my mobile. That’s why CoinPoker is my favorite real money poker app.

Ignition Poker

Ignition is my go-to mobile poker site when I’ve borrowed someone else’s device. Even though I’d still prefer Ignition to offer an app, the mobile site gives me flexibility in terms of the device I can use.

Instant access is definitely important, particularly when it comes to Ignition Poker, because it has a ton of juicy games. Why? Because it’s primarily an online casino. The flow of casino players to the poker tables ensures there are plenty of soft spots.

When I’m in the mood to play, and there are great games running, I want a mobile poker site I can use on any device. Ignition gives me freedom, which is why it’s on my list, despite not having a real money poker app per se.

ACR Poker

Before I get into specifics, I’ll say this: there is an ACR poker app on Android, and, thankfully, an ACR poker app on iPhone and iPad devices. I say thankfully because, until the start of December 2024, iOS users were confined to ACR’s mobile site.

That wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. However, with the online poker app comes a variety of additional features for iOS users, including push notifications and biometric logins. You do have to jump through a few hoops to get both the Android and iOS poker apps, but it’s worth the effort.

In line with its commitment to being the best poker platform for tournaments, ACR hosted a series of “mobile only” MTTs to celebrate the launch of its poker app on iPhone. Don’t worry if you missed those tournaments because ACR offers over $10 million in weekly guarantees.

You can play all of these events, including the annual $20 million Venom series, via your mobile. For this reason alone, ACR is one of the best poker apps out there. Then, when you add rakeback, loyalty rewards, and innovative features such as bomb pots and staking to the mix, you’ve got a world-class real-money poker app.

Black Chip Poker

Why would I use Black Chip when it shares the Winning Poker Network with ACR and all of its best features? This is purely a personal preference, but I like Black Chip’s design. In many ways, it’s better than ACR’s. You might disagree, but I think the predominantly black-and-white color scheme looks better.

On a practical level, I also think it’s easier on the eye, which is important when you’re playing poker online with a real money app. When I’m playing long sessions, I want an interface that isn’t overly bright or garish.

Black Chip satisfies those demands. It also has all the features I mentioned earlier, including staking, bomb pots, and the ability to run hands twice. You can also activate push notifications and biometric logins with the Black Chip Poker app on Android and iOS.

BetOnline Poker

The final real money poker app iPhone and Android users should try, in my opinion, is BetOnline. Aside from being a slick online poker app filled with fun features, BetOnline has been around since 2004. Any company that can survive for over 20 years in the gambling sector has to be doing something right.

Aside from ever-evolving regulations, the online gambling industry is highly competitive. Therefore, operators need to constantly evolve to ensure they remain relevant. BetOnline has done that better than most, which is why it remains one of my go-to poker apps for real money games.

The loyalty scheme is lucrative, particularly if you’re a tournament player who values free tickets. The cash games are soft, and you’ll have access to novel features such as straddles and throwable objects. Finally, BetOnline is arguably the best Texas Hold’em app on my list because it offers 6+ (aka Short Deck) and Pineapple Open Face Chinese.

Other Types of Poker App

Next, it’s time to look at poker apps designed to help you improve your game.

I won’t go into too much detail because we’ve got comprehensive guides to strategy-based apps in the CardPlayer Poker School. However, here’s a quick look at some of the best premium and free poker apps for mastering basic strategy concepts:

  • The CardPlayer Poker Odds Calculator: Check your odds of winning with specific hands for every possible scenario. It’s largely used as a Texas Hold’em app, but also has odds for Omaha, Stud, Razz, and Deuce-to-Seven (2-7).
  • CardPlayer Hands Matchups: Relive famous poker hands and get a statistical breakdown at each stage for insights into how the pros play.
  • The PokerCoaching App: This free poker app for Android and iOS devices gives you access to strategy quizzes and pre-flop push/fold charts.
  • Range Analyzer: Another of the many free poker apps you can download via CardPlayer is Range Analyzer. Install this free poker app on Android or iPhone devices, and you’ll learn how to break down hands like a pro.
  • Equilab: See how much equity hands have against customized ranges and boards for both Hold’em and Omaha with this free poker app.
  • GTO Wizard: Download and subscribe to this game theory poker app to see how you can make unexploitable moves in any situation.
  • PokerSnowie: Like GTO Wizard, PokerSnowie is one of the best poker apps for applying game theory concepts to hands you’ve played.

Playing poker is fun, but those who win in the long run don’t rely on luck alone. That’s why you should see strategy poker apps as essentials rather than optional extras. Mastering concepts such as bluffing, range balancing, and value betting gives you a much better chance of success when you play poker online with a real money app such as CoinPoker.

Best Poker Apps – Our Verdict

That’s how to use free poker apps to win real money. As long as you stick to licensed poker apps such as CoinPoker and BetOnline, you should have an awesome time at the tables.

Not only that, but my top-rated real-money poker apps are perfect for players at every level. There are plenty of freerolls for newbies, soft low-stakes games for novices, and generous loyalty rewards for serious grinders.

Download my recommended online poker apps to get 24/7 access to all of these things and more.
