Super Turbo Mini Main Event

I am home after busting out 36th in the first $1000 NLH event of this years WSOP. It felt like a mini super turbo main event, as it started with the largest tournament field other than the main event, with over 6000 players. I guess I am happy about cashing but as usual still disapointed and very tired.

The tournament was very well run for the most part, but, since I am tired and disapointed, I will just take this opprtunity to complain about a few things.

Firstly, the rule about no headphones after the tournament is “in the money”. What sense does this make? If someone was going to cheat wouldnt they just use an invisible type device? They allow headphones in all the big cash games why wouldn’t they protect those players if it is problem? In reality I guess I am better off though as I feel I miss a little wearing them and what I gain in patience is off-set by what I miss, especially later in the tournament.

Also this was the second event I played in this year and in both events after playing very late the night before we were told to come back at a certain time the next day to continue play. When we came in they didn’t have tables for us and we had to wait around after getting shorted sleep. It was a one hour delay on day two of the Omaha Hi-Lo and a 1/2 hour delay on day three of the No Limit event, at least they are getting better about it. At first I felt like they did it out of lack of consideration for the players, since I knew when they were saying come back tomorrow at 1pm on the day of a sold out event that it would be delayed, but now I feel it is a mistake that they will more than likely stop making.

They had planned to play the event all the way through on day three, which I had planned on ranting about, but now I see on the updates that they got down to the final 9 at 10pm and decided to move the final table to the next day. I applaud this decision by the WSOP and/or espn.

I am passing on the 6 handed No limit at noon tommorow in order to play the $2500 Pot limit 1/2 holdem 1/2 omaha at 5pm.
