I just watched the 60 minutes piece on the NBA referee who was caught betting the games. It was very interesting and reminded me of why poker is the only form of gambling I participate in anymore.

This ref wasn’t really fixing games but was just using inside info to get 75 to 80% of his games right. A lot of his iside info was on which refs liked to screw over who, for personal reasons. In virtually everything you can bet on there is going to be a group with inside info that wins and the rest are at a huge disadvantage. This is especially true in horse racing and the stock market.

Sure poker has its outright cheating scandals, but if you are playing in a reputable casino, tournament or online site you are getting about as fair a shake as is available in the gambling world. You might not be able to get in the juicy home games you want or even get screwed on the list to get in some casino games, but, once your in, things are fairly fair.

Yeah I lost a lot betting sports in the past and for me watching a football game without a bet, is like watching horse run without a bet for most people, so I don’t watch.
