First off, I’d like to say thank you to Card Player to adding me to their list of featured bloggers. For those who don’t know about me, let me fill you in…

I’m 25 years old, and I live in Ottawa, Ontario. I’ve been playing poker practically every day since I was dealt my first hand in 2005 when my friends in University introduced me to no-limit Texas hold’em for the first time. I feel in love with the complex and competitive nature of the game, and started off playing in every live game I could find. Soon after a few months of grinding local live tournaments and cash games, I found online poker.

For the first couple years while playing online poker, I dabbled in sit and go’s, mtts, and cash games. After playing over 4,000 mtts, and 10,000 sit and go’s, I decided to shift my focus on cash games with my sights set on achieving SNE (Supernova Elite) status on PokerStars. I first achieved SNE in 2010, and earned it again in 2011. Since I made the switch to almost exclusively playing cash games, I’ve been playing full ring no limit hold’em, with $0.50/$1.00 and $1.00/$2.00 blinds. I do try to spike a tournament every now and then too.

If you are successful in earning SNE, you end up taking home about $115,000 in bonuses. When I first started planning my SNE chase, I thought I would be able to play the amount of hands needed, and at worst break even at the tables, but learned quickly that it was more of a challenge than I had expected. Although I did earn SNE, I’ve been a loser at the tables, so on top of being SNE; I am also labeled a ‘rake back pro’, with my profit coming exclusively from cash bonuses.

In 2012 I’m hoping to again achieve SNE for the third time and with all the experience and knowledge I have gained the past couple years, I’m hoping to make 2012 my best year yet. I am also apart of the Ultimate Grinders team, at UltimateGrinders.com alongside other online high achievers such as ‘WizardofAhhs’ Kevin Thurman. At Ultimate Grinders we share our strategies and techniques necessary to become an Ultimate Grinder.

So, come follow my journey to achieving Supernova Elite, and take a glimpse into the life of a dedicated online poker player.
